Transcript
00:00Hello and welcome to the latest forecast from the Met Office. A lot of cloud across the UK this weekend.
00:05Some rain, but by no means a washout. There will be plenty of dry weather as well.
00:10And clear spells for many on Friday night. Perhaps a good night for spotting the Perseids meteor shower,
00:16but actually in the west we'll have thickening cloud later on, especially for parts of West Wales,
00:21Devon and Cornwall where there'll be some sea mist by dawn.
00:25Scotland as well sees the showers continue. The breeze continues here as well.
00:31Away from the showers there'll be some clear spells and temperatures into the single figures.
00:35But by and large, because of the breeze in the north and the increasingly mild air flow further south,
00:41temperatures will stay up in the double figures or the teens.
00:45One low departs as we begin the weekend. The next low starts to move in.
00:49And it's this warm front which will extend a tongue of cloud and some rain into central and western parts of the UK by dawn.
00:57So a dull and gloomy start to the day for Wales in the southwest.
01:01And increasingly that low cloud will creep its way northeastwards into parts of the Midlands and northern England,
01:07carrying with it some outbreaks of mainly light rain and drizzle.
01:12Otherwise, sunshine coming through for southern counties and eastern counties of England.
01:16And for Scotland and Northern Ireland, a few showers around, especially for central and northern Scotland,
01:21but fewer compared to Friday. And it's less breezy here as well.
01:25So that'll make it feel a bit more pleasant with temperatures a little higher.
01:29Well, we've got some sunshine in the east or perhaps the south, low twenties, fair enough.
01:34But elsewhere, a lot of low cloud, not feeling particularly pleasant under those grey leaden skies
01:40and with patchy drizzle around as well for parts of Wales.
01:43Increasingly through the night, western parts of England, Wales and then Northern Ireland
01:49seeing those outbreaks of mainly, again, light rain appear.
01:53But it stays clear towards the southeast.
01:55Clear spells at first for parts of Scotland before cloud thickens up from the north
01:59with some showers into the far north of Scotland.
02:02And again, most areas seeing a mild night, 15 or 16 Celsius in places.
02:07A bright start there for southeast England on Sunday.
02:10Also for the north of Scotland, but showers quickly descend from the north
02:14across much of central and northern Scotland.
02:16The low cloud and outbreaks of light rain drizzle elsewhere push their way slowly southwards.
02:22But really for much of northern and western England and Wales,
02:26expect some light rain and drizzle through the day. A lot of low cloud as well.
02:30Bright spells and showers for the east of England and away from those showers, it'll feel warm.
02:34Temperatures up to 23 degrees or so.
02:37A cool feel for Scotland and Northern Ireland though, with a northwesterly breeze,
02:41mid to high teens and a few showers coming along as well.
02:45Mainly north of the central belt.
02:47Enjoy your weekend, but of course you can stay up to date with the weather if you need to.
