12 August - National weather forecast presented by Alex Deakin
Transcript
00:00Hello again. Today's weather kind of breaks down into different zones across the UK. But
00:05for many, it's going to be dry and for quite a few of us, there'll be some spells of sunshine.
00:11But one distinct zone across Northern Ireland, West and Scotland, where it is going to turn
00:15increasingly windy with some blustery showers. Here's the bigger picture, the showers and
00:20the strong winds coming from this area of low pressure as it gets closer. But ahead
00:24of that, this old weather front is still with us. It provided the rain through much
00:30of Wednesday. The rain has been fizzling out, but still it's going to bring a zone of thicker
00:34cloud with at times some drizzle across parts of East Anglia into the South Midlands and
00:40the South West. But still some uncertainty about how much we're going to see here. To
00:43the far southeast, mostly dry and bright. And then a good part of Wales, Northern England
00:48will be fine with sunny spells. But here are those blustery showers with a gusty, gusty
00:52wind increasing across Northern Ireland and Western Scotland. So a fresh feel here with
00:57temperatures in the high teens, but elsewhere, a bit of sunshine should see values into the
01:01low 20s and still some warmth across the southeast. If it stays sunny here, 25 or even 26 is possible.
01:08A cloudier zone will persist through the evening before gradually fizzling out as we head through
01:13the night. The showers will keep going in Western Scotland, Northern Ireland and the
01:17gusty winds will continue as well. Could see some showers returning to South Wales, South
01:22West England through the early hours. But for many, it'll be a dry night. There's enough
01:26of a breeze to stop temperatures falling too far. It won't be as cold as it was last night
01:30for some, but temperatures mostly staying in double digits in towns and cities. On to
01:35the details for Friday, and it's still pretty messy. But again, it is a day of heavy, frequent
01:40showers in Western Scotland and the north of Northern Ireland. Some showers for southern
01:44and eastern Scotland for the south of Northern Ireland. One or two for England and Wales,
01:49most likely in this zone, again, close to the Bristol Channel. But again, for a large
01:53part of England and Wales, it'll be dry, often quite cloudy. But again, when we see a bit
01:58of sunshine, temperatures should climb up into the low 20s. But there will be quite
02:03a brisk breeze blowing through Friday, more noticeable perhaps than today. So it'll feel
02:08perhaps just a little bit fresher. Through Friday evening, not a great deal of change.
02:12Still some heavy showers across Scotland packing in here, zipping through on that strong wind.
02:18Otherwise, it will be largely dry. Behind me, there is some cloud starting to gather.
02:23Still some uncertainty about the details for the weekend. But there will be, I think, a
02:27fair bit of cloud around, but also quite a bit of dry weather to be had as well. We'll
02:31follow up on the details for the weekend, have a weekend forecast for you if you subscribe
