00:00Hello and welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office. So it's been quite an
00:05unsettled weekend and quite a showery start to Bank Holiday Monday as well. But let's
00:11have a look at the bigger picture. High pressure has always been towards the southwest of the
00:15U.K. and this is going to become the dominant feature in our weather as we go through to
00:19Tuesday and into Wednesday. Though through Wednesday in particular we start to see a
00:24tightening of those isobars, there's some strong southeasterly winds to come. But looking
00:29at the detail for the rest of this afternoon, there'll be quite a few showers around, particularly
00:34across England and Wales. These will be heaviest across the eastern half of the U.K., particularly
00:40heavy with an odd rumble of thunder across East Anglia and southeast England. A drier
00:46day today compared to yesterday across western parts of the U.K. and it will feel a little
00:51warmer here too where we've got some decent sunny spells. But further north you notice
00:55winds are coming from the north and this marks a change to something a little cooler
00:59here to come over the next couple of days. So temperatures across the north of Scotland
01:04still not doing that well for the time of year, though further south highs are around
01:0817 to 19 today. So as we go through the rest of this afternoon and into this evening, this
01:14band of cloud and also the odd light spot of rain too, will make its way southwards
01:20to bring quite a cloudy night for much of England and Wales. Though behind that across
01:24Northern Ireland and Scotland we'll see skies start to clear and this will allow temperatures
01:29to drop and we could see the odd patch of frost in some rural areas here. There will
01:34be the odd clear spell further south, particularly across south Wales and southwest England,
01:39but under these clearer skies we'll see some mist and fog forming. So it will be quite
01:43a mild night across the south compared to further north. So away from Northern Ireland
01:50and Scotland will be quite a cloudy start to Tuesday, with any mist and fog lifting
01:54and breaking through the morning. It will be mostly dry, though we might just see the
01:59odd spot of rain and drizzle in any thicker cloud. Sunshine will start to break out as
02:05well as we go into the afternoon as that cloud starts to break up and the best of the sunny
02:09spells will be across the southwest and the far northeast. Though with northerly to north
02:15and easterly winds, particularly down north sea coast, temperatures will be feeling quite
02:20noticeably cooler tomorrow compared to today. Now as we go through Tuesday evening we look
02:26a little further west and we've got this band of cloud and rain moving up through the Republic
02:31of Ireland and into Northern Ireland by the evening. And this will continue to make its
02:36way north eastwards, bringing rain to western Scotland as well, but also cloudier skies.
02:41So a milder night to come on Tuesday compared to tonight, though further south with a few
02:46clearer skies around into the evening, a little cooler than what we're expecting for tonight
02:51here on Tuesday evening and maybe the odd patch of mist and fog once again. Thank you
