00:00Hello, and welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:04So it's been quite a grim and gloomy end to the week, with plenty of rain and strong winds
00:10around.
00:11Now as we look into this evening, and that rain is going to continue to make its way
00:15northwards throughout tonight, leaving some drier and clearer spells across parts of England
00:21and Wales.
00:22But quickly we will see further showers pushing in from the west as we go into Saturday morning.
00:27We might see some heavier bursts of rain across eastern Scotland, where there is a yellow
00:32rain warning in force for tonight, as we could see some localised disruption.
00:38It will remain windy throughout tonight as well, so that will help keep temperatures
00:43in the low teens for many, though in some clearer spells, maybe in eastern areas, we
00:48might just see those temperatures dropping into the high single figures.
00:53Now as we move into Saturday morning, that rain will slowly clear its way from northern
00:58Scotland.
00:59A little bit of a drier start for some places elsewhere compared to Friday morning, but
01:03quickly we will see showers pushing in on those strong south-westerly winds.
01:09They could be heavy and thundery in places too.
01:13Strongest winds will be across much of the southern half of the UK, so much of England
01:16and Wales, seeing some pretty strong winds throughout Saturday.
01:20We might even reach gale force winds inland too, and that means we could see gusts around
01:2550mph for some.
01:27So do bear that in mind if you are planning to be out and about on Saturday.
01:32Temperature wise, we're similar to what we've seen through Friday and feeling pretty cool
01:37in those strong winds as well.
01:39Though where we do get a little bit more of the way of sunshine for southeastern areas,
01:43we might just see temperatures creeping into the low twenties, but generally they're going
01:47to be in the high teens for much of the UK on Saturday.
01:51Through the evening, we will see those showers continuing for a time, but as we get closer
01:56and closer to Sunday, they will start to ease.
02:00There will also be a persistent band of rain pushing into northern England, Scotland and
02:04just clipping Northern Ireland for a while as well, and that will introduce a bit more
02:08cloud into the picture as well for Sunday morning.
02:11Remaining windy throughout the night as well, so temperatures still remaining in those low
02:16teens.
02:17Again, maybe in the odd clear spell, seeing those drop into the high single figures.
02:22As we go into Sunday morning, quite a cloudy start, but drier for some than what we've
02:27seen through Friday and Saturday.
02:29There will still be a few showers around, but those are a bit more isolated and lighter
02:34in nature than what we're expecting for Saturday.
02:38There will still be some persistent rain there across western parts of Scotland, so another
02:43grey and gloomy day here.
02:45And winds continuing to be strong, though they will start to ease from south to north
02:50to the northern half of the UK, always clinging on to those stronger winds for a little bit
02:55longer as low pressure pulls away to the northeast.
02:59Temperatures though similar to what we're expecting for Saturday, and again feeling
03:02cooler in the stronger winds, and we might just touch into 20 degrees once again across
03:08the southeast.
03:10But what does the new working week have in store weather wise?
03:13Well, generally looking like things are going to remain a little unsettled on Monday, with
03:17a further risk of showers, but some sunny spells too.
03:21And those temperatures again, remaining in the high teens for most, and maybe just creeping
03:24into the low 20s in a few places.
