00:00Snow and ice warnings have been issued through Tuesday night and into Wednesday
00:05across northern Scotland and the eastern strip of England. The air is that cold. In
00:10fact a rash of showers moving down the North Sea. There of rain over the sea
00:15but as it hits the colder air and the air is turning a lot colder across much
00:19of the UK through Tuesday night and into Wednesday we're looking at sleet and
00:23snow showers. Similar situation across central northern parts of Scotland
00:27particularly the northeast. A cold pool of air extends right across the country
00:32maybe milder conditions just nudging in to the far southwest from time to time
00:36but these warnings of snow and ice extend through Wednesday as well as
00:40Thursday overnight and this little feature here could bring with it the
00:44chance of some rain as it nudges into the cold air. There is a possibility it
00:48could turn to snow across the far southwest. For the time being that's
00:52Tuesday evening. Well look at the showers moving in on a strong wind, a
00:57strong wind down this east coast as well. So across northeast England, eastern and
01:01northeastern parts of Scotland, the far north of Scotland that's where we could
01:05see a covering of snow in places one to three centimetres at lower levels but
01:09over the higher ground you'll see more than that and the risk of ice as
01:13temperatures plummet. More cloud down towards the southwest and here one or
01:17two showers clipping southwest Scotland as well as the West Country. Temperatures
01:21holding up above freezing here but look at this widespread and severe frost as
01:26we head into Wednesday morning and it will be slippery as well. Cold outside
01:31with a cold wind particularly along the northeastern side of the country. Inland
01:35though a crisp start to the day with some sunshine perhaps one or two
01:38freezing fog patches and down towards the south more clouds and again a few
01:43showers running down the Irish Sea just clipping the far southwest of Wales as
01:48well as the West Country. Through the morning again a few showers along the
01:52east coast here and they'll continue to penetrate further inland across the
01:56northeast of Scotland where they will turn to snow yet again. A significant
02:01wind chill across the northwest of the country and we'll see more clouds across
02:05the far north. Many areas though brighter weather, some sunny spells as the frost
02:10lifts from the ground temporarily only to return through Wednesday evening and
02:16again a few showers down towards the southwest but temperatures struggling
02:19look at this 2, 3, 4 degrees Celsius you need to wrap up warm if you're out and
02:23about and enjoy some late November sunshine. Now these snow and ice warnings
02:29again for Wednesday evening and into Thursday morning. The wind shifts around
02:34to more of a northeasterly and so it's really the northeast of Scotland border
02:38regions down towards the northeast of England where you'll see a mix of sleet
02:42and snow showers and again covering will be patchy but over the higher
02:46ground you could again see up to around 5 centimetres or so. A widespread and
02:51severe frost yet again lowest temperatures possibly minus 8 degrees
02:55Celsius across the Cairngorms. Come Thursday morning more clouds across
03:00northern and eastern areas of the country you can see here yet again a rash
03:04of showers particularly towards the north and they will have a snowy element
03:07to them. So a covering of snow, some slippery surfaces, the risk of ice inland
03:12and some brighter skies through the day despite the sunshine temperatures will
03:15struggle and towards the far southwest yes that's where you'll see more clouds
03:19and some rain just nudging along the south coast particularly towards the
03:22southwest. If it does encounter the cold air we could see a little snow will keep
03:26you posted about that and then come Friday it's a similar situation with
03:29some sunny spells after a frosty start more cloud in the south. See you later.
