00:00More lively weather around on Thursday, rain or showers, strong winds and a little sunshine.
00:07However, let's backtrack to Wednesday evening where the rain across England and Wales and Northern Ireland is moving towards the central and northern areas of Scotland.
00:14Snow above around 300 metres through Wednesday evening and overnight, so some wet weather to come across Shetland and Orkney.
00:21At the same time, this cluster of showers will emerge to form a longer spell of rain anywhere from Cumbria and Northumberland,
00:27down towards Wales and West Country, pushing ever eastwards.
00:30And then rain returns to the western side of Scotland and the central belt through the early hours of Thursday morning.
00:37Temperatures across Scotland will struggle. It's going to be a cold end to the night.
00:41Further south, six or seven, helped with a bit more cloud, a bit more of a milder airstream and also those strong winds.
00:48First thing then on Thursday morning, perhaps a little bit of brightness towards the east,
00:52but you can see this rain covering much of the central belt as well as the Highlands is pushing ever northeastwards.
00:57Showery bursts of rain arriving across Northern Ireland through the morning and further showers, a cluster coming in from the southwest.
01:03We'll always see the most frequent showers through Thursday in the west as well as the southwest.
01:08Now further east, we'll see some brighter skies to start the day and a few showers just running across with a keen breeze through the morning.
01:16So let's pick up on the rain across Scotland. It's tracking ever east and northeastwards.
01:21Further showery rain continues across the far north and then we'll see another band of showery rain move from Northern Ireland, western Scotland,
01:28and this one yet again is moving its way eastwards. Further south, it's sunshine and showers.
01:33The wind's not as strong as Wednesday, even so a blustery breeze and some sunshine coming through with frequent showers towards the southwest
01:41as it turns wet across northern England, southern and central parts of Scotland and brightens up across Northern Ireland through the latter part of the day.
01:48So a lot of weather to cover through Thursday, a blustery breeze still and temperatures on the low side across Scotland feeling cold in the wind.
01:55A similar situation for Northern Ireland, only 6 degrees Celsius and a couple of degrees lower for England and Wales, 9 or 10 degrees Celsius on Thursday.
02:04So on Thursday evening and overnight, some clearer skies initially towards the northeast.
02:08We could even see some ice as thickening cloud brings outbreaks of rain.
02:11The orientation of this weather front will be across Northern Ireland pushing up towards Scotland where there is a rain warning through the early hours of Friday morning,
02:18clipping the far north of England. At the same time, more wet weather arrives across the southwest with a strong wind here.
02:25Everything is pushing east and northeastwards, so most places seeing some wet weather through the day as it brightens up towards the west later on.
02:33It's another windy day and you can see here temperatures will struggle yet towards the south because again the wind's coming in from the south.
02:41We will see temperatures around 12 or 13 degrees Celsius, so a milder feel to things than Thursday.
02:46So here's our outlook through New Year's Eve. We lose the strength of the wind.
02:51We lose a lot of the rain, still some showers lurking out there, perhaps even a little sunshine legacy, a cloud also.
02:58And New Year's Day, it turns a bit dry, although there could be some rain in the southeast.
03:02Obviously we'll keep you posted here on all our social media channels. Bye bye.
