00:00Hello there. A band of rain will slowly move down the country on Wednesday.
00:04To the north of it we'll see brighter skies but also some blustery showers.
00:07To the south the greatest risk through Tuesday into Wednesday will be fog patches
00:11which could be dense and they will form through Tuesday evening quite readily.
00:16So overnight showers continue across the north and the west of Scotland for a time
00:20and then this band of rain moves in across the far northwest as the winds pick up some strength.
00:24Elsewhere it's a fairly quiet evening and overnight under some clearer skies that fog
00:28will continue to form and where we see starry skies temperatures will dip close to freezing
00:32if not below. So some patchy frost anywhere from southern parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland,
00:37England and Wales. Now this rain by the early hours of the morning will have reached Aberdeenshire,
00:42Grampians extending towards Northern Ireland the far north. Some patchy rain here to start the day.
00:47Quite quite a breeze as well. Towards the north a blustery wind and also some showers. To the south
00:53it's a murky start to the day and also a chilly one. So first thing on Wednesday morning then
00:58you can see where the showers are turning wintry above around 400-500 meters. We run into this rain
01:03patchy rain at that across Northern Ireland much of central and eastern areas of Scotland pushing
01:07down towards border regions. The cloud may be broken just for a time across more northern parts
01:12of England, North Wales but then we run into this low cloud, stubborn fog patches and also some
01:18patchy frost to start the day on Wednesday across much of England and Wales. So through Wednesday
01:23this rain continues its passage across Northern England covering the Isle of Man, Anglesey, Gwynedd
01:29as it pushes down towards more southern parts of Northern England. Behind it the cloud will break
01:34up, you'll see some sunshine but watch out for those showers blustery towards the north and the
01:37west of Scotland and moving inland across Northern Ireland. To the south of it yes we could see some
01:42cloud breaks but at the same time the cloud will be thick enough to produce perhaps the odd spot
01:46or two of drizzle and temperatures will struggle here. It's going to feel cold under that cloud,
01:51that clag and in the north with that wind temperatures struggling here as well despite
01:54the fact you'll see some sunshine six or seven degrees celsius. So that's the picture on Wednesday
02:00afternoon through Wednesday evening. The passage of this rain clears towards the southeast, only
02:04spits and spots by them. The winds pick up some strength through to Thursday morning, gales across
02:09the northeast again with those showers but not a bad day on Thursday. A ridge just comes in for a
02:14time, some sunshine, some showers though across Irish sea coasts but it's going to feel chilly
02:20wherever you are. So through the afternoon temperatures typically coming in around five
02:25to seven degrees celsius and you'll really notice the difference along that east coast with that
02:29driving wind and watch out for those showers. The air remains cold as we head into Friday and
02:35across Thursday night into Friday as well and then come Friday things turn stormy. We watch as these
02:42weather fronts just gradually sink down across Scotland and Northern Ireland preceded by some
02:46snow particularly over the higher ground and then the winds will pick up some strength to gales
02:51and then severe gales. So the Met Office has issued warnings for wind across Scotland on Friday
02:56with some severe gales likely across the country. Gusts along the coast could reach 70 to 80 miles
03:01an hour inland, gusts around 50 to 60 miles an hour. Then come Saturday those strong winds extend
03:06towards England and Wales and notice this occlusion here as it moves down across Scotland and then
03:11eastern central parts of England we could see some hill snow as well as outbreaks of rain.
03:15So a lot to contend with over the next few days. Stay tuned to the forecast and we'll keep you posted.
