13 November - National weather forecast presented by Alex Deakin
Transcript
00:00Hello. Storm Debbie may be drifting out into the North Sea,
00:03but we're not done with the wet and windy weather.
00:06This was the picture on Monday afternoon
00:08as the storm system headed across Scotland.
00:11The strongest winds on its southern flank damaging gusts
00:14in places and plenty of rain wrapped
00:17around that low pressure.
00:18Still feeding in this evening into eastern Scotland.
00:21Met Office warning in place here,
00:23but the strongest winds are clearing away.
00:25It's not going to be a calm night, still pretty blustery
00:27and gusty across the south.
00:29But the winds will ease across northern parts of Scotland
00:31as the rain clears away here.
00:34A few showers will come and go,
00:35but some clearer spells over the Midlands,
00:37East Anglia and the Southeast.
00:39Temperatures holding up though in the south,
00:40pretty mild night here.
00:42Some places staying in double digits,
00:44a little colder further north.
00:45With lighter winds clear skies,
00:47maybe not too far off freezing
00:48in rural parts of northern Scotland.
00:51Down to the southwest though,
00:52more wet and windy weather is on the way.
00:54A band, a narrow band of heavy rain and thunderstorms
00:58drifting into southern parts of England.
01:00Initially in the southwest,
01:01but then spreading along the south coast.
01:04So say some pretty lively downpours, hail, thunder,
01:08lightning all mixed in a lot of spray and surface water.
01:11And as this band moves through,
01:13it will suddenly pick up the wind.
01:15So it could get very nasty indeed.
01:16Very blustery, not lasting too long,
01:18but a short spell of pretty intense rain
01:21moving across southern counties during Tuesday morning.
01:24Elsewhere, it'll be a case of watching the showers
01:26once more, plenty of them across Western Scotland,
01:28Northern Ireland and Northern England.
01:31Some thing a little dry, maybe across Northern Scotland
01:34and across the Midlands, Wales,
01:36good part of the day looking dry,
01:37some sunny spells developing in the south
01:39once that band of heavy showers has cleared through.
01:43Temperature wise, well, not far off Monday's values.
01:46So high single figures across Northern Scotland,
01:4810 to 13 generally, maybe 14 along the south coast,
01:52but it'll feel cooler with that fairly brisk wind,
01:55which will continue to feed more showers
01:57in particular to Northern Ireland and Western Scotland
01:59during Tuesday evening.
02:00In fact, all of Scotland could be pretty wet
02:02as we head into Wednesday morning,
02:04bit more snow likely over the tops of the mountains
02:06in Scotland.
02:07Again, nothing unusual about that.
02:09Further south though, something a little clearer
02:11and actually across much of England and Wales,
02:14a good part of Wednesday will be dry and bright.
02:16Yes, a few scattered showers in the southwest.
02:18There'll be some showers across Northern England
02:20feeding in on this line,
02:21perhaps coming into Southwest Scotland
02:23and Northwest England.
02:24So it could bring some pretty wet conditions here,
02:27but say for many, actually Wednesday looking
02:30largely dry and fine.
02:31And the winds certainly across the south a little lighter,
02:34but temperatures, well, still around or a touch below
02:36average perhaps in places,
02:38mostly single figures across the far north,
02:4010 to 12 or 13 further south.
02:43As for the outlook,
02:44well, you can just about make out a little bump here,
02:47a little ridge of high pressure,
02:49and that will bring many places some fine weather
02:52on Wednesday and Wednesday evening.
02:54But down to the southwest,
02:55there is another area of low pressure developing.
02:58Bit of a question mark about how intense this gets
03:01and whether it comes across the UK or steers further south.
03:04Alex Berkel has more on that
03:07in this week's weather for the week ahead.
03:09And you can catch that on YouTube.
