00:00Hello there. Welcome to our latest broadcast from the Met Office. It is going to be much
00:05colder over the coming days, widespread frost, some icy stretches and also some fog patches
00:11too. And that's all due to this area of high pressure building in across the UK, keeping
00:16all the weather fronts out in the Atlantic, so lots of dry weather to come. But turning
00:20much colder, easterly winds picking up into the beginning of next week, making it feel
00:25like freezing for many of us. So looking at the picture for Saturday evening overnight
00:31into Sunday, clear skies across the north and the west of the UK. This will allow temperatures
00:35to dip below freezing, some dense fog patches developing, icy stretches and a widespread
00:41frost. More cloud filtering in from the North Sea affecting northern parts of England, stretching
00:46into the Midlands, parts of Wales, some wintry showers perhaps across the far south east
00:51of England. But in between there will be some clear spells here and with recent saturated
00:55ground we could see some icy stretches forming, taking us into Sunday morning. Temperatures
01:01here close to freezing, below freezing further north and west, back down to around minus
01:05seven or minus eight across the glens of Scotland. So some icy stretches for all of us. First
01:11thing on Sunday morning, dense fog patches across parts of Scotland, Norman Island will
01:15be slow to clear, but plenty of sunshine to come for many of us as we go through the day,
01:21but this weather front will bring in some cloud and some showery rain across some northern
01:26and eastern parts of England. Perhaps a little bit of sleet and snow over the highest ground
01:30here and a few wintry showers in quite a keen north easterly breeze affecting the far south
01:35east of England too. But for the vast majority of us, dry and bright, plenty of blue skies.
01:42Temperatures generally between five and six Celsius where any fog lingers, particularly
01:46through the central belt. Temperatures here struggling, perhaps one or two Celsius and
01:50some places staying below freezing all day. So some icy stretches continuing, but a cold
01:57feeling day. Temperatures nearer to freezing out there, so extra layers will be needed
02:01and that brisk wind in the far south east really sort of adding to that cold feel. We're
02:06into the evening time on Sunday. Temperatures quickly dropping below freezing, widespread
02:11frost forming, though just notice how some clouds still continues to filter in from the
02:16North Sea. Some wintry showers mixed in there as well, but many places staying dry under
02:21the clearest skies, particularly across the west. Temperatures dropping well below freezing,
02:25again minus six or minus seven through parts of Scotland. Towns and cities across the whole
02:30of the UK close to freezing with some fog patches and that widespread frost to start
02:36Monday morning. So again, Monday, a cold start, plenty of sunshine to come through the day.
02:42The cloud will come and go and it will build as we move through the day. The wind picks
02:45up across southern counties of England and Wales, drifting in a few wintry showers here
02:51and temperatures again, despite being dry and some sunny spells on the cold side, two
02:56to five Celsius below average for the time of year. But again, as that wind picks up,
03:02it will feel more like freezing for many of us. So scarf and gloves will be needed during
03:07the day as well as night time as frosts return and ice comes back in. And that's the forecast
03:13for the next few days as we move into the beginning of next week and beyond. High pressure
03:18keeps it dry. It will remain cold. There'll be some frost and ice at times too. So if
