00:00Hello, welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office. So we've seen some warmer
00:04conditions particularly in the south over the weekend but that doesn't last too long.
00:08Low pressure brings a cold front down towards the south and that brings us more into a northerly
00:12wind across the UK, so bringing us some colder temperatures over the next few days. High
00:17pressure does remain close by though out towards the west of the UK with areas of low pressure
00:21just skirting around the top of that, so perhaps some cloudier conditions and some showers
00:24at times. However, that area of high pressure does return closer towards the UK as we go
00:29through the end of the week and in towards next weekend, so perhaps something a little
00:33drier on the way. Back to this evening's weather though and there is still plenty of showers
00:37around, particularly in the north and the west of the UK. High pressure still holding
00:41on close by towards the south, so perhaps some clearer skies for a time. However, through
00:45the early hours of Monday morning those showers sink their way south and eastwards, turning
00:50particularly heavy across northern parts of England, so we could see some localised flooding
00:53here. The showers also turning to sleet and snow across parts of Scotland and with a brisk
00:58northwesterly wind it will be a chilly night across the northern half of the UK. Temperatures
01:03down into the low single figures, perhaps even some frost in places and even in the
01:06south struggling to reach much above 7 or 8 degrees. That does mean that Monday will
01:12be quite a chilly start to the day and it will be a blustery start to the day too. Those
01:16heavier showers eventually push their way south and eastwards on that brisk northwesterly
01:20breeze and then we will start to see some sunshine developing as we go through the afternoon.
01:25There will still be plenty of showers around though, these particularly heavy across northern
01:28and western parts and again turning to sleet and snow across the Pennines, the Lake District
01:33and the Highlands of Scotland. With that brisk northwesterly breeze we will see some cooler
01:38temperatures than we've seen over the weekend, struggling to reach much above 12 or 13 in
01:42the south and struggling to reach into the double figures further north. But if we factor
01:46in that northwesterly breeze it will definitely be feeling colder than that, feeling around
01:513 or 4 degrees in the south at best and even around 7 or 8 in the south, so a very chilly
01:56feeling day particularly compared to the weekend. Through the rest of Monday though we will
02:01see those showers continuing to spread their way southwards across the UK, again they could
02:06be quite heavy in places across northern parts of England. They will gradually start to ease
02:11though as we go overnight and into the early hours of Tuesday morning so there will be
02:14plenty of clear skies developing, albeit with the odd one or two showers around. The winds
02:19will gradually start to ease as well but it will be another chilly night under those
02:22clear skies. Temperatures in the south around 6, 7, maybe 8 degrees and in the north around
02:275 or 6 degrees, perhaps a little lower in some rural spots. That does mean that Tuesday
02:32starts a very chilly start in the morning but plenty of blue sky around. There will
02:37be some sunshine as well as we go through the morning, perhaps the odd one or two showers
02:40bubbling up particularly across southern parts of England and Wales but the best of the sunshine
02:45across northern parts of England and southern parts of Scotland as well. We'll see some
02:50lighter winds on Tuesday so despite temperatures being around about average for the time of
02:54year, maybe 12, 13 or 14 degrees in the south and 10 or 11 in the north it might be feeling
02:59a little less cold than we saw on Monday. Those showers do continue as we head through
03:04Tuesday and into Wednesday and some more showers on the way on Thursday but that area of high
03:09pressure moving back towards the UK later in the week. Make sure you subscribe to our
03:13YouTube channel so you can find out more about that closer to the time. Bye bye.
