09 November - National weather forecast presented by Ellie Glaisyer.
Transcript
00:00Good afternoon. Welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office. So, the anti-cyclonic
00:05gloom that's brought us grey and cloudy skies for much of November so far gradually does
00:10start to ease. We've still got a couple of days of cloud with these weather fronts pushing
00:13their way eastwards, but then this next area of high pressure developing into the new working
00:17week looks like it's going to bring some brighter skies, not quite as cloudy as we've seen over
00:22the past couple of days and generally quite settled as well with plenty of sunny spells
00:25in store. But, back to today, still seeing those cloudy skies for another day or two.
00:30Parts of northern and western Scotland seeing some sunshine as we go through the afternoon,
00:33but for much of the rest of the UK, generally another grey and cloudy day. Some outbreaks
00:38of rain and drizzle across Northern Ireland, the hills of Wales, southwest England and
00:42across eastern coasts of England as well, seeing those murkier skies. A bit of a chillier
00:46day than we've seen recently, those temperatures struggling to reach the double figures in
00:49some areas, still staying a little bit milder across the southwest though and perhaps feeling
00:54quite pleasant in the sunshine further north. Through the rest of Saturday evening, we do
00:59see those clearer skies across western parts of Scotland slowly push their way north and
01:03eastwards as we go overnight and into the early hours of Sunday morning as we see this
01:06next weather front arriving from the west into the start of Sunday. That does bring
01:10some outbreaks of rain across Northern Ireland and then into parts of western Scotland too,
01:14perhaps some heavier downpours here for a time. But, across eastern parts of England
01:18and eastern parts of Scotland, generally still seeing some of those clearer spells into the
01:22early hours of Sunday morning and it could be turning a little chilly here, perhaps even
01:25a touch of frost across parts of Scotland through the early hours of Sunday morning.
01:29But generally, staying that little bit milder further west where we see that thicker cloud
01:32across Northern Ireland, Wales and southwest England. But a chilly start for some of us,
01:38particularly across eastern parts of Scotland, some eastern parts of England as well, seeing
01:41those clearer spells. We might see the odd patch of mist and fog first thing but that
01:45will clear through the morning and then as we see that weather front pushing its way
01:50eastwards as we go through Sunday afternoon. Parts of western Scotland, Northern Ireland
01:54definitely turning brighter, plenty of sunshine here through the afternoon. Further south,
01:58there will be some sunnier breaks between that cloud but generally another cloudy and
02:01damp day for most places. But feeling a little bit milder under that cloud compared to what
02:06we're seeing today. We'll see temperatures around about average, maybe a little above
02:10for the time of year, 14 or 15 in the south and 12 or 13 further north. But turning a
02:15little breezy across the northwest, so perhaps feeling a little cooler here. As we go through
02:19the rest of Sunday evening, that weather front across the central part of the UK continues
02:23to push its way southwards. So plenty of clear spells for Northern Ireland, parts of Scotland,
02:28although some blustery showers pushing their way eastwards through Sunday night and into
02:31the start of Monday. And for much of England and Wales, generally a cloudy end to the day.
02:35But that weather front continues to push its way southwards overnight Sunday and into the
02:39start of Monday. So there should be some sunshine on the way through Monday and Tuesday next
02:43week. But to find out more about that, make sure you subscribe to our YouTube channel.
02:46Bye bye.
