00:00Hi there, drier weather is on the way eventually this week but for the immediate future we've
00:06still got an awful lot of rain to talk about and that's because of an area of low pressure
00:10that brought unsettled weather to the south and the west of the UK on Sunday. That's now
00:14moving slowly east across central parts of the country with a weather front very slowly
00:20moving through central areas of the UK bringing a wide swathe of cloud and persistent wet
00:27weather through much of west and north Wales, the north Midlands, northern England, central
00:32and southern Scotland as well as parts of Northern Ireland. Far north of Scotland mostly
00:36dry with some bright spells. The far south staying breezy, not as windy as it was on
00:42Sunday and feeling a little more pleasant with some brightness coming through and highs
00:46of 17 Celsius. Feeling very unpleasant where we've got the persistent wet weather and that
00:51rain will mount up through the 24 hours from 6am Monday to 6am Tuesday with the highest
00:59rainfall totals expected through Yorkshire and Lincolnshire widely 30-50mm and in some
01:04places in excess of 80mm particularly over the North York Moors for example. Also a wet
01:09end of the day for parts of Northern Ireland, north Wales, north west England and through
01:14this central part of the UK with that persistent and at times heavy rain there could be some
01:19transport disruption for the evening rush hour but as the night gets underway the main
01:26area of rain will pull away to the south still accompanied by strong winds down the eastern
01:31coast but further west clear spells albeit with some showers as we begin Tuesday. A much
01:37brighter start today for Northern Ireland, western Scotland and eventually western parts
01:42of England as well as Wales will see the skies brighten, some sunny spells but also further
01:46showers into the north east of Scotland, west Wales and the south west but again a
01:52miserable feel to the day for eastern England, a lot of low cloud, outbreaks of rain throughout
01:58and a strong wind gales down that north sea coast making it feel on the cold side 13 Celsius
02:05at best although the rain not as heavy as we end the day compared with the next 24 hours
02:11or so however those outbreaks of rain they're going to continue down that eastern side of
02:17England perhaps into the Midlands through the Pennines as well at times on Tuesday and
02:22into Wednesday we keep some showers going here with an easterly breeze but eventually
02:27higher pressure builds in from the north and that's going to settle things down widely,
02:31still a lot of cloud but some decent sunshine for the north west of the country before the
02:37next low turns up however that doesn't happen until the weekend so several days of drier
02:42weather to come but in the immediate future we've got that rain to look out for.
