31 October - National weather forecast presented by Aidan McGivern.
Transcript
00:00Hi there, Thursday brought some sunny skies, north east England, parts of southern England
00:05and south Wales saw the best of any cloud breaks but otherwise it's remained relatively
00:11cloudy across the country and we keep a lot of that cloud cover overnight. Increasingly
00:16wet weather pushing into the northern isles, the north and north west of Scotland, some
00:21heavy rain for a time as a weather front sinks south accompanied by strong winds. Then the
00:25winds change direction bringing colder air into the far north, hence the lower temperatures
00:30by the start of Friday. Otherwise it's 11 or 12 Celsius for most but in some places
00:35where we've got the cloud breaks overnight 4 or 5 degrees and a few mist patches first
00:40thing. Certainly a colder feel for Shetland and Orkney but brighter skies here albeit
00:44with one or two showers passing through. Then brighter skies emerging for the far north
00:50of the mainland of Scotland as the rain sinks south during Friday. It is really fizzling
00:55out but it's increasingly damp across central and then later south east Scotland. Elsewhere
01:00one or two drizzly showers for the north west of England, north Wales, northern Ireland
01:05where we've got mist first thing in the south that will tend to clear. We keep a lot of
01:09cloud but there will be some cloud breaks, again north east England, parts of the south,
01:13those cloud breaks coming and going through the day. So some sunshine at times, otherwise
01:18a lot of cloud and a slightly colder day compared with recent days 14 or 15 Celsius. Now we've
01:25end Friday and go into Saturday morning with the front in the north pivoting so that it's
01:30straddling central and south east Scotland into the north east of England. Drizzle here,
01:36cold in the far north east, otherwise generally cloudy skies and a mild start to Saturday.
01:43Now Saturday brings more cloud pushing into the far north of Scotland, some drizzly rain
01:48associated with that as well and some light showers down the eastern coast of England
01:53as well as the far south coast, 13 or 14 Celsius, a colder feel compared with recent
01:59days. Temperature is not far from average for the time of year mind you. Higher pressure
02:03is going to set up shop to the east of the UK during the rest of the weekend and into
02:08the start of next week. That means a southerly air flow, it means a lot of cloud again but
02:14a better chance I think of some sunshine for southern areas certainly on Monday and it's
02:19going to feel slightly colder as well. But otherwise it's staying largely dry for most
02:24of us as that high pressure clings on. We'll keep you updated right here on our YouTube
02:28channel. Bye bye.
