26 November - National weather forecast presented by Aidan McGivern.
Transcript
00:00Hi there. Compared with the last few days, the weather is relatively quiet this Tuesday.
00:06Fine for most of us with some decent sunny spells up and down the country. Still some
00:10showers out there, especially for northern Scotland into southern Scotland, the far north
00:15of England, the far north of Northern Ireland. West Wales as well seeing one or two showers
00:19and some quite lively downpours running along the English Channel could affect the far south
00:25coast of England with some thunderstorms and even some hail here. But most of these will
00:29be staying offshore with some decent sunshine inland. Many places will see temperatures
00:33of six to ten Celsius. So feeling crisp but with decent bright sunshine and light winds
00:40for most. High pressure across northern parts of the UK but this low sneaks in overnight
00:46and that's going to bring some more persistent rain to parts of England and Wales and certainly
00:51not welcome rain following the flooding in places over the weekend. So some wet and windy
00:57weather pushing into the south west by evening, running along the south coast and edging
01:02into parts of Wales, the Midlands, East Anglia. But the heaviest rain will be along southern
01:08counties of England, 15mm widely. More than that in some locations. Gusty winds as well.
01:15That will keep temperatures up but where we've got clearer skies for Northern Ireland, Northern
01:19England and southern Scotland, there will be some frost, some temperatures below minus
01:24five Celsius and some freezing fog patches around first thing. Especially for Northern
01:28Ireland because there could be some issues on the roads because of the poor visibility.
01:33After the wet starts across the south, well actually the rain does ease into the North
01:37Sea through the day with the winds picking up through the afternoon, a risk of gales
01:41for the far east and south east of England. Temperatures of 11 degrees in the south, three
01:46to seven further north but plenty of sunny skies for much of Scotland. Still some showers
01:51into the north and north east of Scotland, north east England, parts of Northern Ireland.
01:55Some fog patches continuing into the afternoon for parts of Northern Ireland, low cloud as
01:59well. But we end the day on Wednesday with strong wind down the North Sea, coast of eastern
02:05and south east of England. Otherwise lighter winds, plenty of clear skies and as a result
02:11a cold night to come with again some widespread freezing fog patches forming in places. Could
02:18be some issues on the roads on Thursday morning. We'll keep you updated right here on the Met
02:22Office YouTube channel and make sure you subscribe so you never miss an update. Bye bye.
