NT police are investigating an alleged domestic violence stabbing death overnight in the remote community of Lajamanu, south-west of Katherine.

00:00Yes, Roz, police received reports at about 6.20 p.m. yesterday of a 42-year-old woman
00:08with serious injuries at the local health clinic in Lajamanu with a large crowd gathered.
00:15Now police attended the scene and the woman was declared dead a short time later.
00:20It's believed she sustained stab injuries from an edged weapon.
00:25Shortly afterwards, police arrested the woman's 46-year-old male partner who was nearby and
00:32had allegedly been assaulted by a group of unknown community members.
00:37He sustained non-life-threatening injuries and remains in custody.
00:42Two crime scenes have since been declared and major crime detectives have taken over
00:47the investigation.
00:49It's believed the woman's partner will be charged later on this evening in relation
00:54to her death.
00:55And police are calling for any witnesses to come forward.
00:59And Charmaine, this follows a domestic violence-related assault in Katherine over the weekend.
01:04What updates do we have on that incident?
01:07Yes, police attended a home in Katherine East on Saturday night following a concern for
01:15welfare.
01:16When they arrived, they found a 61-year-old woman with serious injuries.
01:21She was rushed to the Katherine hospital by ambulance in a critical condition and later
01:26airlifted to the Royal Darwin Hospital.
01:30Police believe at some point on Friday night that the woman was allegedly assaulted by
01:35her 68-year-old male partner, who also allegedly assaulted another 68-year-old man who attempted
01:41to intervene.
01:43That man has since been arrested and remanded in custody to appear at the Darwin local court
01:48tomorrow.
01:50But this comes just two weeks after a 22-year-old woman in Katherine was allegedly murdered
01:56by her 36-year-old male partner.
01:59He's since been arrested and charged in relation to her death, but it certainly is a deeply
02:04concerning string of incidents happening in the Northern Territory in recent weeks.
