Northern Territory Police have spent the day scouring the dry bed of the Todd River in Alice Springs for clues following the death of a woman overnight. Her partner, a 49-year-old man, has been arrested and remains in custody, with charges yet to be laid.

00:39Police today confirming investigators are treating it as a domestic violence homicide.
00:45It comes days after a separate incident in Alice Springs
00:48where a man's body was found naked on this track near Undulia Road by passers-by
00:54and while the circumstances of this death continue to be investigated
00:58police believe it may have been caused by a drug overdose.
01:02We're still investigating and we're investigating it as a suspicious death
01:06just for completeness.
01:08We don't think it is as a result of a homicide at this stage.
01:13The post-mortem is scheduled for tomorrow and so that will really put that to bed.
01:18Police say the man was known to authorities
01:21and witnesses reported seeing him behaving erratically earlier on Saturday.
01:26The investigation is expected to conclude within a few days.
