Jealousy may rear its ugly head. Think of the live interview when Ringo Star continually insisted that everyone only wanted to talk about his more famous bandmate, Paul McCartney.
Interviewers can occasionally insult the intelligence of the celebrities they interview, especially women. It also goes the other way. Think of when Jennifer Garner tried to correct Conan O’Brien’s grammar only to be proven wrong. Celebrity interviews can take many unexpected turns. Madonna only asked “why” in an infamous interview. Blake Lively didn’t respond well to simple congratulations about her pregnancy or questions about the 1930s costumes in her most recent film. Jennifer Lawrence called out an interviewer for using her phone.

Many celebrities are known for crotchety or rude behavior behind the scenes of an interviewer. Hugh Grant has been unreasonable enough to be banned from shows. Jesse Eisenberg called his interviewer the “Carrot Top of interviewers.” He also said not to cry about it until later so he wouldn’t be blamed. There are instances when a celebrity is forced to apologize for their past bad behavior. Jake Whitehall had no choice when he was called out for it on air.

They can also get just a bit too interested in their interviewer. Vin Diesel took too much time flirting to get anything done in a 2016 interview. Other times, celebrities can even go beyond rude behavior and become dangerous. Bobcat Goldwaith faced criminal charges when he tried to burn his chair during The Tonight Show.
