00:00Hello again.
00:01This is our weekend.
00:02That's all I need.
00:03You two together, scoot in a wee bit, scoot on until we get the background in.
00:06We've met before haven't we?
00:07We have.
00:08Thought we had to.
00:09A few times.
00:10You actually, I don't know if you remember this, it was years ago at the NTAs, my camera
00:12man kind of pulled me back because I was in the shot and you were like, don't you touch
00:15her.
00:16I wasn't having it was I?
00:17You weren't having it.
00:18Oh I see, I see.
00:19And I was like, so anytime anyone asks me about you I'm like...
00:20Well you've only got me looking after you, you know, you're proper Scottish.
00:23But I appreciated it.
00:24We love the, yeah, I love the Scottish, I'm married to one so yeah.
00:27He would have done...
00:28He's a big lump.
00:29He's a big lump, he is.
00:30But also he would have done exactly the same, been like, no.
00:33Yeah.
00:34No.
00:35Gentlemen.
00:36Gentlemen.
00:37Have you seen it yet, Rivals?
00:38Danny, I was at the junket, I'm obsessed.
00:39Remember I told you I was up all night?
00:41Did you do it?
00:42I did, I watched three and then I said to myself, right enough, have some self-restraint.
00:45So what happens?
00:46Do they like release the whole series?
00:48Well we obviously get it before, I think we got four episodes, they give it to us before
00:52but then I stopped because I thought...
00:54Oh it starts to get messy.
00:55We watched the whole series in a one night.
00:57In a day, didn't we?
00:58We did like a whole day screening where we watched eight episodes.
01:02We stopped and had lunch.
01:03We did.
01:04Had a sandwich.
01:05And then the vino came out a bit later.
01:06Yeah, it was coffee and coffee.
01:07The last couple I was a bit...
01:10Can you actually remember the last couple of episodes then?
01:12No, no, listen, I've got to say, it's great for us because we're in it and we're important
01:15characters but, you know, there's other people in it that we didn't see most of the work
01:19that they've done.
01:20Yeah, yeah.
01:21So I was, I mean, I was getting choked up at stuff which is a bit weird because you're
01:25sort of in it.
01:26There's about 40 characters and the first episode is so amazing because it introduces
01:3240 characters so seamlessly.
01:35Yeah, it does, yeah.
01:36And you kind of get a grip of who everyone is, what the relationships are in an hour
01:41which is quite a difficult thing to do, I think, in a first episode but it's dead easy.
01:45So well done.
01:46It makes you want to watch more, doesn't it?
01:47It's so well done.
01:48It really does.
01:49You know, I'm slightly biased but I think this is proper television.
01:53This is like the top elite.
01:55It is.
01:56And honour should be part of it.
01:58Honestly, I think people think I just say this but I'm very honest.
02:01I'm Glaswegian.
02:02I genuinely think this is the best bit of telly we've had in years.
02:06I genuinely believe that.
02:07How do you feel now that people are actually going to get to see it because it's out Friday?
02:10So good.
02:11Finally.
02:12Finally but I feel like the world is a very grim place at the moment.
02:15It's really difficult and I feel like this show is like pure escapism.
02:20It's funny, it's dark, it's sort of...
02:24It shines a light on the 80s but in a period way so it's okay
02:28but it sort of like ticks all the boxes, doesn't it?
02:30Like I said, it's a perfect bit of television.
02:33It's got something for everybody and it's just...
02:37Like I said, it's inspiring to be part of stuff.
02:40We've been around quite a while, me and Lise,
02:42and you're just always grateful to be working, to be fair,
02:46and then sometimes, very rarely, you come across a gig and you're like...
02:49I know.
02:50Are we in this?
02:51Are we actually doing this?
02:52And it humbles you.
02:53Do you remember at the read-through when we met at the read-through?
02:55And we were shitting ourselves.
02:56And we were like, oh my gosh.
02:58We shook hands.
02:59Hello, okay.
03:00And then this is the biggest read-through I've ever been to.
03:02It was three tiers of people.
03:03There was about 200 people there.
03:05We were like, this is proper.
03:06And of course Disney were there.
03:08You know, it's like sitting in the electric chair, you know what I mean?
03:11You feel like you'll be elbowed at any point.
03:13I'm going to get sacked.
03:14But it went really well.
03:15We enjoyed it.
03:16We enjoyed it.
03:17It's such a special group of people as well.
03:19Everyone's saying that you're going to stay in touch.
03:21I know as actors, when you've got busy lives, it's hard to actually do that.
03:24But I think on this, you've created bonds that are unbreakable now, right?
03:27Well, we've had some socials, haven't we?
03:29No, but what I will say is that I've got a few WhatsApp groups and things
03:32that die after a gig.
03:33They do.
03:34This one's never died.
03:35No, it hasn't.
03:36So we're still...
03:37And the crack is always good.
03:38I can't tell you what it's called, the WhatsApp group.
03:39No, you can't.
03:40Please.
03:41No, I can't.
03:42I can't.
03:43You just won't be able to...
03:44Tell me at the after party.
03:45We're still sackable at this point.
03:46Yeah, we are still sackable.
03:47We really want to do a second gig.
03:49We've got to get over the line.
03:50So, yeah.
03:51But no, this one's still very lively and we're still very active and we love each other
03:54and we're very supportive of each other.
03:55And that's from us older lot and the youngsters who are coming through,
03:59who I feel, after Friday, are going to become very famous.
04:03Yes, I agree.
04:04And, you know, so we're there.
04:06I do think their lives are going to...
04:07Bella.
04:08Our lives are going to change.
04:09Bella, yeah, Bella, Bella.
04:10Little Emma Ship.
04:11Little Emma Ship.
04:12Kat.
04:13It's going to win the hearts of the nation.
04:14Well, you've won my heart.
04:15I loved it.
04:16Let's wrap this interview before we get sacked.
04:17Let's all just stop talking.
04:18You're amazing.
04:19That'd be so much better.
04:20So lovely to see you again.
04:21God bless you, darling.
04:22What a lovely...
