00:00If you're anything like me, you hate the price of gas today.
00:09Considering the very unpredictable tide of gas prices, the need for an economical car
00:13cannot be overstated.
00:14Alright, let's get to it.
00:172023 Honda Civic For a very long time, the Honda Civic has
00:23maintained a solid reputation as one of the very best offerings in its category.
00:28From its design, to performance, economy, and other great features, compared to its
00:32selling price, this is certainly a solid buy.
00:36Before we get to those, fuel economy is one of the strong suits of the 2023 Honda Civic.
00:40The most efficient variant starts with EX trim level, and its EPA rating is set at 33
00:45miles per gallon in the city and a whopping 42 miles per gallon on the highway.
00:49Pretty amazing numbers, once you consider every other thing that comes in the package
00:53with the 2023 Honda Civic.
00:56You get as much as 180hp for an almost immediate response, a rugged design, and a wide range
01:02of options to pick from, starting at around $27,000 and going as high as $33,000.
01:08Quite a steal if you ask me.
01:112023 Toyota Crown This all-new vehicle is designed as something
01:17between car and SUV, and offers hybrid powertrain at the same time.
01:21Quite a unique one.
01:23The most efficient Crown is its base level hybrid with 42mpg city and 41mpg highway.
01:30You will lose some of that efficiency to the more powerful trims.
01:33With the most powerful hybrid max powertrain of the 2023 Toyota Crown, you get 29mpg for
01:39the city drives and 32mpg for the highway drives.
01:42These aside, this is a very powerful car, and the most powerful on our list today.
01:47For most of the cars and SUVs that we've mentioned so far, there seems to be a trade-off
01:51of performance for efficiency, but with 340hp on the Crown, you are getting a pretty good
01:57taste of both worlds.
01:59The Crown starts at around $42,000 and goes as high as $54,000 for the most expensive
02:05variant.
02:062023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 The best way to describe Hyundai's work
02:12on the 2023 Ioniq 5 is simply that they left no stone unturned.
02:17The brand already has a pretty impressive track record with fuel economy, so it's no
02:21surprise that two of its vehicles under the Ioniq moniker made it onto my list today,
02:26and we'll get to that shortly.
02:28The Ioniq 5 has some of the most impressive range and economy numbers that you will find
02:32on any EV.
02:34The rear wheel drive Ioniq 5 gets an EPA rating of 114 miles per gallon equivalent.
02:40This impressive number does slightly drop to 110 miles per gallon equivalent once you
02:45switch to the AWD variant.
02:47You also get a 58kWh battery that could last you 220 miles on a single charge.
02:53You could also get an even larger 77.4kWh battery for 266 miles on dual motors, or go
02:59for the single motor and get 303 miles.
03:02Depends on what is most important to you.
03:05The 2023 Ioniq 5 offers all these alongside a great design, as high as 320hp, and a good
03:12range of variations and modifications to tailor the vehicle just for you.
03:16The SUV starts at about $43,000 and goes as high as $54,000.
03:222023 Volkswagen Jetta
03:26If you need a car that comes close to the Honda Civic's level without costing as much,
03:30the Jetta is one viable option, especially when it comes to fuel economy.
03:35At its efficient level, the Jetta gets you 31 miles per gallon for city driving and 42
03:39miles per gallon for the highway.
03:41There are other variants with lower ratings as a result of their equipment.
03:45Still, you should get around 29 miles per gallon for city driving and 40 miles per gallon
03:50for highway driving.
03:51The Jetta gets a pretty simple design language inside and out, and 158hp from its turbocharged
03:571.5L 4-cylinder engine that makes for an interesting, easy drive.
04:03The least expensive 2023 Jetta will set you back about $22,000 and could go as high as
04:09$30,000.
04:112023 Toyota Corolla
04:15If you'd like to bump up your power performance a little more and pay even less, then you
04:19should definitely consider the 2023 Corolla.
04:22While this car is not designed to be the most beastly vehicle on the market, you do get
04:26decent economy of around 32 miles per gallon city driving and 41 miles of highway driving.
04:32The hybrids offer the same economy for highway in its all-wheel drive, but you get an amazing
04:3747 miles per gallon in the city.
04:39The front-wheel drive hybrid Corolla is where the best numbers lie, standing at 50 miles
04:44per gallon in the city and 43 miles per gallon for highway driving.
04:48Considering the decent reputation of Corollas of the past in this category, this great performance
04:52does not come as a surprise.
04:55Offering a pretty aggressive design and a 169hp engine, the Corolla looks almost too
05:00good for the money you'll be paying for it.
05:03The 2023 Toyota Corolla starts at around $23,000 and you may spend a little over $29,000
05:09for the most expensive variant, depending on your extras and add-ons.

05:18Please go ahead and do it now because we are getting to the next insanely economical car.
05:232023 Hyundai Elantra
05:27With its 2.0L 4-cylinder engine, the Elantra gets an EPA rating of 33 miles per gallon
05:31for city driving and a higher 42 miles per gallon for highway driving.
05:36For the turbocharged 1.6L variant, on the other hand, your numbers drop to 28 miles
05:40per gallon city and 36 miles per gallon highway.
05:43Unsurprisingly, the most efficient of the bunch is the hybrid variants.
05:48The least-priced hybrid Elantra is expected to run at 53 miles per gallon in the city
05:52and 56 miles per gallon on the highway.
05:55While it does not turn too far away from the external design features of the older Elantras,
05:59there are a ton of new and improved software and hardware features on the inside of this
06:03car that makes it a strong candidate for this video.
06:06You do have to settle for just 147hp on the most powerful Elantra.
06:11The hybrids are even less at 139hp.
06:15The car does make up for these things with its price tag, starting at about $22,000 for
06:19the cheapest variant.
06:21For the most expensive limited hybrid variant of the 2023 Hyundai Elantra, you may spend
06:26as much as $31,000.
06:292023 Toyota Prius It is almost impossible to talk about cars
06:35with great fuel economy without talking about the legendary Prius.
06:40Over time, the model has continued to improve on its reputation as one of the most economical
06:44cars to drive on the surface of the earth.
06:47The best part is that it's gotten even better with its 2023 model.
06:51While there is yet to be an official EPA rating for this vehicle, Toyota is promising that
06:55the latest Prius will be able to hit an amazing 57 miles per gallon combined at its most efficient
07:01level.
07:02This unseen level of fuel economy is very on-brand for the Prius model.
07:07Aside from being the most efficient Prius to date, it is also arguably the best designed
07:12to date and the most powerful at 196hp.
07:16Toyota has taken a route to give Prius fans a lot more to love about the hatchback than
07:20just its fuel economy.
07:22And all these great features start at around $29,000 for the base trim, while the most
07:27expensive limited trim should cost around $36,000.
07:31How are we doing so far?
07:33Good?

07:372023 Mini Cooper A very niche small car that has managed to
07:42carve out a devout fandom in the last couple of years.
07:46This 2023 model is still everything drivers know and love about the car.
07:50The base automatic models of the latest Mini Cooper are rated to do 29 miles per gallon
07:55in the city and 38 miles per gallon on the highway.
07:58You do lose 1 mile per gallon on both city and highway if you purchase a manual Cooper.
08:03It's also worth noting that the more powerful variant of the Cooper gets an even lower economy
08:07at 28 miles per gallon city and 38 miles per gallon on the highway.
08:12Across the different available trim levels, you could spend between $25,000 and $33,000
08:17to secure a 2023 Mini Cooper.
08:202023 Kia Sportage Here is an SUV that you're going to be very
08:25happy about if you want to get the best out of fuel economy.
08:29The 2023 Sportage comes in a variety of trims for gas only, hybrid, and even plug-in hybrid,
08:35and all of these offer impressive features alongside great efficiency.
08:39At the base level, front wheel drive on the Sportage gets you 25 miles per gallon city
08:43and 32 miles per gallon highway.
08:46Unsurprisingly though, all wheel drive drops this number to 23 miles per gallon for the
08:50city and 28 miles per gallon for the highway.
08:52The plug-in hybrids perform slightly better with 36 miles per gallon city and 35 miles
08:57per gallon on highway.
08:59If you want the very best efficiency from your Sportage, then the obvious choice would
09:02be the hybrid variants that are rated at 42 miles per gallon city driving and 44 miles
09:07per gallon highway driving.
09:09The Sportage is undoubtedly one of the most capable small SUVs that money can buy, no
09:14matter the variant you go for.
09:16It starts at around $28,000 and could go up to $45,000 for the most expensive hybrid trim.
09:232023 Mitsubishi Mirage If you are a driver who does not care much
09:30about performance and luxury and just need a new car that can comfortably get you from
09:34point A to point B, then the Mirage is on the list for you.
09:38The EPA estimates the Mirage will burn around 36 miles per gallon in the city and a whopping
09:4343 miles per gallon on the highway.
09:45For a car this size that is not exactly designed to do so much, these are impressive economy
09:50figures, especially at this price point.
09:53As a matter of fact, this is arguably the best fuel economy you can find at this subcompact
09:57level.
09:59But you should know that this comes with a couple of caveats.
10:02First off, you should not expect anything even close to luxurious on this car, and engine
10:07power is not its strongest suit either with just 78 horsepower.
10:11The 2023 Mitsubishi Mirage is a very simple subcompact with a little bit of everything
10:16you may need for your day to day transportation.
10:19The car starts at just around $18,000 and goes up to $20,000.
