00:13Deputy Secretary Sonny Angara visited the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines to discuss a number of programs and solutions for education in the Philippines.

00:22The program was led by the ECCP President Paulo Duarte.

00:26Some programs and solutions for education in the Philippines were discussed in the forum, where Angara and some officials from the private sector attended.

00:35The decongestion of subjects under the strict curriculum was also included to improve the study of mathematics, reading skills, and life skills.

02:45In the Senior High School curriculum, there's room for languages because we want global citizens as well.

02:51So, French is the language of diplomacy.

02:54The foreign language is very important, especially the French language, to the Senior High School students, especially to the TVL.

03:04Because this is what they will use in preparation for their future career.

03:10When they pursue their career in college, like taking Tourism or Hospitality Management, this is already an advantage.

03:20Or even not TVL or not Home Economics, it can also be taken in other courses.

03:28According to the Department of Education, the improvement of the DepEd in the strict curriculum is still ongoing.

03:34In the first 100 days, we've gone long on our early bets.

03:38We've made the curriculum more flexible to maximize the learning time of our students as well as of our teachers.

03:43We've created a PISA task force to prepare our students for the upcoming international assessment.

03:49We're assessing our reading interventions and Senior High School curriculum.

03:53The President's directive is clear.

03:55Secure the basics.

03:57Prepare students for the world of work.
