00:04It's a brand new pizza place that opened last Saturday on Oxford Road right around the corner from Federal
00:09And I was invited down last week to give it a try and talk to the owner Daniel
00:13So let's go see what he had to say. Hi, my name is Daniel Mullen. I'm the co-founder of Detroit Slims
00:18We'll target everyone, we'll target students, we'll target locals, we'll target the whole shebang
00:23I've always wanted to get into the high street
00:25And there wasn't really a sort of a grab-and-go sort of takeaway style pizza
00:28You know, the traditional mindset of a pizza is you've got a big box
00:32so we kind of put our Detroit style slant on it and put it in a little box and
00:37Now we've got Detroit Slims. Fresh Detroit pizza, good fresh to go, you know.
00:42Quality of the dough is number one. Well, the quality of everything. It's the quality of the dough and the quality of the toppings
00:46But I think the dough and the fermentation of the dough, slow and low fermentation overnight and the hydration levels as well
00:53So it's got to be quite a wet dough
00:55It's really light, fluffy and bubbly and then another really important aspect of this particular pizza
01:01is you've got to cook it fresh to order. Price point was also a big thing for us
01:06We looked at a lot of our competitors and they were pretty pricey
01:10And I think this is sort of a, you know, a really top-end quality product, but a really good value perception
01:16So it's a really good value offering. We tested out a lot of our competitors and they were sort of between
01:216 minutes all the way up to 18 minutes. Fast food, frozen fast food
01:26This is fresh food baked to order in less than 6 minutes and when we're busy as well
01:31It's going to be even faster when we're busy because the oven can spit out around about
01:3520 seconds, about 25 pizzas
01:38So the busier we are the faster we can get it out
01:41Now the quality of the food is absolutely top as you can see here
01:45Now one of the great things about Detroit Slims is not only does it offer a great lunchtime snack
01:49But because it stays open until midnight on Friday and Saturday
01:52It also offers a great option if you're on the way back from the pub and want to avoid a greasy kebab
