00:00Hey, how's it going? Dave2D here. So Razer just announced a whole slew of new products,
00:07including a new phone and some new laptops. So their new phone is the Razer Phone 2.
00:12The phone from last year, the Razer Phone 1, has a very similar design to the new one,
00:16but they've changed quite a few things this year. So last year's Razer Phone had a super fast 120Hz display,
00:22but the screen wasn't very bright. The Razer Phone 2 increases that screen brightness by about 50%,
00:27still 1440p, still super smooth at 120Hz, and this is something that's difficult to showcase in my videos,
00:33because I shoot at 24 frames per second. A 120Hz screen looks incredibly smooth,
00:37and with the improved brightness on this year's screen, it's going to be one of the best viewing experiences
00:41you can get on a smartphone. Some other notable changes, it's a glass back this year,
00:45so it supports wireless charging, and the camera system's been updated.
00:48It's still a dual-lens system, but with updated optics and software.
00:52The logo on the back of the phone also supports Razer Chroma, which for the unfamiliar is Razer's RGB lighting system.
00:58You can use that light for notifications, or if you want, you can run some lighting effects on it.
01:02Point is, you have 16.8 million colors to choose from, so now you can live that RGB life.
01:07It's also IP67 water-resistant this year, which is something the original Razer Phone was missing,
01:12and the speakers have also been upgraded. So last year's Razer Phone had some of the best speakers on the market,
01:18and the Razer Phone 2 is even better this year. They're louder, they're cleaner,
01:21and it's very likely that the Razer Phone 2 is going to have the smartphone speaker crown again.
01:26It's been updated to Snapdragon 845. This year it's cooled with a vapor chamber to keep thermals in check when you're playing games.
01:32Still has 8GB of RAM, still has a 4000mAh battery, but the Razer Phone 2 is obviously more optimized this year with the new SoC,
01:39so you're going to get slightly better battery life, especially at 120Hz.
01:42You'll just be able to hit that 10-hour mark at the higher refresh rate.
01:45It's gone up in price though, so it originally launched last year at $700, this year $800.
01:51It's a $100 increase. I feel like last year's Razer Phone was, not that it was like a cheap phone,
01:56but I felt like it was well-priced. This year it feels like they're trying to hit that more premium segment,
02:01because $800 for a smartphone in 2018 is certainly not cheap.
02:05The other things that they announced are some laptops. The one that is most interesting to me is this guy right here.
02:10This is a limited edition Mercury White Razer Blade. This is one of the best-looking laptops on the market to me.
02:16It's not a white laptop per se. The keys are white, and they still have the Razer Chroma lighting on those keys,
02:22which I think looks nicer on white keys than on black keys.
02:25The metal chassis though isn't painted or anything. It's just a very light silver, but in this kind of matte finish.
02:30It has this texture that gives it this really pleasant look. It just reflects light a particular way.
02:35The top surface has the same thing going on, but instead of the green logo that we've seen on the black Razer Blade,
02:41this has a much more muted vibe. It's just like a polished silver logo.
02:44The ports are black instead of the regular green, and this whole laptop looks so nice to me.
02:48I mean, I've seen a lot of black laptops, but beyond that, I'm just partial to white hardware.
02:53I love white laptops, and this is actually one of the best-looking white laptops we've seen.
02:57It wasn't done this like cheap way. They could have painted it.
02:59They could have done like some cheap process to make it look silver and white, but they didn't.
03:03They did this classic finish to it that looks awesome.
03:06Now personally, I think this actually looks a lot like the old-school MacBook Pros, like that silver finish from the 90s, but I like it.
03:13My only concern is durability. If I had this mercury white version, I'd probably skin it with a marble or a white from dbrand.
03:20There's also a new base Razer Blade, so it comes in at a much cheaper price with a decent configuration still.
03:25So for $1,600, you can now get into the Razer Blade line.
03:29Now there's a third announcement that they made, which I thought was more interesting to me than I think most people.
03:34So I made a video recently that talked about Razer's after-sales support,
03:37and I found that their warranty period was sometimes a little bit shorter than the big names in the industry.
03:42So people like Corsair and Logitech just had two-year warranties on a lot of their products,
03:47but Razer only had one-year warranty on some of their gaming peripherals.
03:50But they've announced they're now doing a two-year warranty on all the major gaming peripherals,
03:55like headsets, keyboards, mice, all that stuff, two-year warranty.
03:58That's the type of move that makes your customers just appreciate you that much more.
04:02So huge kudos to Razer for doing that. I think that's a smart move.
04:06Okay, that's their new lineup. That's some of their new warranty announcements.
04:11That's basically it. Hope you guys enjoyed this video. Thumbs if you liked it, subs if you loved it.
04:15See you guys next time.
