00:16Please do a review.
00:17I want it.
00:18So please review it ASAP.
00:19Hello, I hear you're looking for an Inspiron 7577 video.
00:22Okay, this is not that laptop.
00:24JK, it is.
00:25I've had this for three weeks and I took my time on this one because this is an important
00:29device.
00:30I feel like a lot of people purchase this thing or the Inspiron 7000 line and I wanted
00:34to make sure that I kind of tested it fully before I made this video.
00:38Okay, this thing for the uninitiated is the inexpensive gaming laptop from Dell.
00:43It's their Inspiron 7000 line and this is their third iteration of it.
00:47When you have an inexpensive gaming laptop, there's got to be something, right?
00:50You want to find that one thing that the company cut the corner on or did something weird with
00:55to provide it at that price point and these guys, they nailed it this year.
01:01Okay, first of all, let's talk about the screen.
01:03Last year, they launched with a TN panel that was unimpressive to say the least.
01:07This year, this launches with an IPS panel right off the bat and it's pretty good.
01:12It's not amazing.
01:13It's a reasonably color accurate screen with decent brightness.
01:16The viewing angles aren't great, especially for an IPS panel, but it's way better than
01:20the old TN panel and actually slightly better than the IPS panel that they used previously.
01:25There's a 4K panel option, which I obviously don't have, but based on last year's panel,
01:29that was actually quite good.
01:30So, if you do need higher resolution, I wouldn't be afraid to get that 4K upgrade.
01:34Okay, another thing they've added is a Thunderbolt 3 port.
01:36So, they have all the regular stuff, USB 3, a bunch of them, three of them, Ethernet port, SD card slot,
01:42and the Thunderbolt 3 port is nice because this one's running four lanes of PCIe.
01:46So, if you're plugging up an external GPU to this thing, you're getting the maximum bandwidth.
01:50They've changed a few other things, some for the better, some for the worse.
01:53It's a design refresh.
01:55This one feels like it has some Alienware DNA creeping in.
01:58The grill is different.
02:00I wouldn't say it's better or worse from last year's.
02:02I personally like the design, but everyone's going to be a little bit different.
02:05The soft touch material is gone.
02:06It's not on the surface.
02:07It's not on the keyboard deck.
02:08And I feel like that was a material that felt and looked really cool when you first got it,
02:12but as you use the computer more and more and it got gunky, it was just weird.
02:16So, I'm personally happy that they removed it.
02:18The hinge is unchanged.
02:21And I didn't love the positioning of this hinge even last year.
02:24It's kind of closer to the middle.
02:25It makes it easier to torque.
02:27Like, if you open this laptop from the side, you just tend to torque the screen a little bit more.
02:32And every time you do it, if you do it hundreds or thousands of times over the lifespan of the laptop,
02:36I don't know how it will do for the longevity of that hinge.
02:39But last year's hinges seem to hold up well, so I feel like this one will be the same.
02:43The screen and the top panel have a little bit of flex to it.
02:46Nothing too bad.
02:47But the keyboard deck is rock solid.
02:49It does not feel like a $1,000 gaming laptop.
02:52It's metal, and there's no play or soft spots on this thing.
02:55The corner down here still bugs me.
02:57So, last year's 7567 had the same kind of corner.
03:00And depending on your wrist positioning and just how you kind of use your keyboard,
03:04this can be an issue.
03:05It doesn't bother me.
03:06It doesn't bother me, but if you have a very flat resting position for your arm,
03:09you might want to watch out for that.
03:11The keyboard itself is good.
03:13Not amazing.
03:14It's an inexpensive gaming laptop, so you're not going to get the best typing experience,
03:17but it's not bad.
03:18The keystrokes are a little bit short, and I wish it had white backlighting instead of this red stuff.
03:23The trackpad is also solid.
03:25It's a plastic surface, but it uses Windows Precision Drivers, and the tracking is good.
03:29There's also a fingerprint sensor on the power button.
03:32This was actually something I didn't expect.
03:33They didn't advertise this.
03:34I didn't even see this at the IFA announcement.
03:36It might have been a late addition to this thing, but it's awesome.
03:39This thing works really quickly and accurately to get you into Windows.
03:42Webcam looks and sounds like this.
03:44Nothing amazing.
03:45I feel like the image quality hasn't changed in like three years.
03:48It's not terrible, but it's not great.
03:50Getting inside the laptop is super easy.
03:52It's a single screw, and when you unscrew it off, it actually stays on the back panel.
03:57There's a C-clip that holds it in place, so you can't even lose a screw if you wanted to.
04:00Inside, we have a 2.5-inch hard drive bay.
04:03This slot is empty because I got an SSD with it, but it comes with a cable, comes with a caddy,
04:08so you don't have to buy any of that stuff if you want to add a hard drive to it.
04:11You have access to the SSD.
04:13The one that they include is actually really fast.
04:15The Wi-Fi card is good.
04:16It's the Intel AT65, and you also have access to the two RAM slots.
04:20The battery's down here, and it's smaller than last year, which was disappointing.
04:24So last year, it was a 74-watt-hour battery.
04:26This year, it's 56, and I'm getting around 4.5 hours of battery life, screen at 250 nits.
04:31Okay, I'm not sure why they did this, because the bigger battery on last year's model was one of its best features.
04:38It's one of its, like, most distinguishing features from all the other gaming laptops that were available.
04:42That bigger battery was just, like, it was like a 6-hour battery,
04:45so you could go through most of your day with just a single charge.
04:48This now puts it into the, you gotta bring a charger with you, laptops.
04:53And, I don't know, that bombs me out.
04:55It is a gaming laptop, so I can see why they did it, but it's disappointing nonetheless.
05:00Another thing that's changed this year is that there's no sub.
05:03So last year had a sub right in the bottom of the laptop, which helped give it a little bit more bass.
05:08It didn't have amazing speakers, but they were pretty good.
05:11This year, the speakers project at the front again, but because there's no sub, the bass is lacking.
05:16They sound good. They actually sound better in just terms of audio clarity.
05:19The mids and the highs are just, there's just more body to that sound.
05:23There's no distortion, but you definitely notice the lack of bass.
05:26Thermal management on this laptop is good.
05:29The external temperatures are good, the internal temperatures are good.
05:32There's no throttling, even during long gaming sessions.
05:35They did an excellent job with the thermal management.
05:37The fan noise is also not bad.
05:39At idle, the fans don't run, and on load, it's still quiet.
05:42Okay, let's talk performance, and this is probably the most important part of this video.
05:46This laptop is running a GTX 1060 Max-Q and a Kaby Lake i7, the 7700HQ.
05:52Now, Max-Q chips tend to run at lower clock speeds.
05:55Both the core clock and the boost clocks are slower.
05:58But for whatever reason, on this laptop, the boost clock is actually quite high.
06:02It's not as high as a regular 1060 laptop, but we're hitting like 1645 MHz, which is really, really close.
06:09Now, the performance I'm getting from this thing is not as good as a regular GTX 1060,
06:14because it's not always going to hit the maximum boost clock,
06:16but everything except for the most demanding games will run really smoothly, with really high graphics quality.
06:21Now, as for the reason as to why they're able to run their GPU a little bit faster, I'm not 100% sure.
06:26My theory is that because thermal management is as good as it is,
06:29they're able to bump up that boost clock, and the fans will take care of it.
06:33But honestly, I'm not 100% sure.
06:35But whatever the reason, it doesn't even matter,
06:37because you're getting a really fast laptop that's going to be faster than most GTX 1060 Max-Q laptops out there.
06:43And consumers win!
06:44Okay, if you're interested in this thing, I give it two thumbs up.
06:47It's really, like, there's not much to dislike about this thing.
06:50Maybe the battery life.
06:52That's basically it.
06:53Okay, hope you guys enjoyed this video.
06:54Thumbs if you liked it.
06:55Subs if you loved it.
06:56See you guys next time.
