Former pilot Greg Lynn has been sentenced to 32 years in jail for murdering Carol Clay at a Victorian campsite in 2020. Lynn shot Ms. Clay in the head during a dispute which also claimed the life of her secret lover, Russell Hill. It took police nearly two years to find the bodies after Lynn hid the remains and set them alight. A jury found him guilty of Ms Clay's murder but acquitted him of murdering Russell Hill.

00:00Greg Lynn will be 79 years old before he's eligible for parole, after he was today sentenced
00:08to 32 years in prison, with a non-parole period of 24 years.
00:13Justice Michael Croucher said he considered lack of prior convictions, deterrence and
00:17the prospects of rehabilitation in determining the sentence.
00:21Lynn was found guilty by a jury in July of murdering Carol Clay, as she camped in Victoria's

00:36Lynn admitted to covering up the deaths, burning evidence from the campsite and their bodies,
00:42but he maintains the deaths were an accident, and that Mrs Clay was accidentally shot during
00:48a struggle over the gun between the two men.
00:52Justice Croucher says Mrs Clay died a violent and brutal death, and Lynn's moral culpability
00:57was high.
00:58There were audible gasps in the courtroom when Lynn was sentenced, however Lynn himself
01:03was emotionless.
01:05Lynn's legal team has previously indicated that they will appeal.
