00:00What's up guys, today we're going to be unboxing the iPhone 14 Pro here, and I'm very excited
00:10about this one.
00:11We also have the, let me grab it, the black iPhone 14, the standard version, and I got
00:20a lot of comparison requests, so I'm going to try to put them out as fast as possible.
00:25I've been getting a lot for you guys, but I'm more excited about the 14 Pro here because
00:32it seems like more of an upgrade.
00:34I have some opinions about the 14, which we'll get into a little bit later.
00:42But this is the, I think, starry black color here, and it looks really good.
00:48The camera module is definitely much bigger this year.
00:55So let's go ahead and pull that plastic off here.
00:58Let's go ahead and boot it up.
01:01So Apple has this new punch hole, the dynamic island, and hopefully you guys can see how
01:10it looks in the light.
01:12So the renders show it as one full peel, but in the light you can see they use the screen
01:17or they use the pixels to make it sort of blend in.
01:20But it is actually like two, so you can see it kind of went in right there.
01:25All right, so let's go ahead and there's nothing else in the box, honestly.
01:33You don't get a SIM tool anymore.
01:35They have this new eSIM thing, which I'll tell you guys how it goes, you know, you get
01:40the Apple sticker.
01:41I'm not too crazy about the eSIM stuff.
01:44Yes, it's got its pros, but it's also got its cons.
01:47I'll probably make a separate video.
01:49And then we get our cable, so, you know, it's classic unboxing experience from Apple, basically
01:54get nothing.
01:55All right, guys, let's go ahead and unbox the iPhone 14 here.
02:03Let's see what we got here.
02:04This is also the black color as well, and I have the tab right here.
02:11And this one is the blue color.
02:14I thought I got the black one.
02:16No, I guess I set the wrong one.
02:19All right, that's fine.
02:21Okay.
02:22Now, the iPhone 14, very minor upgrade this year.
02:27They both have the car crash detection.
02:29This has slightly updated cameras.
02:33Unfortunately, we did not get the same screen as the pro model, which kind of sucks.
02:40We didn't get a high refresh rate.
02:43I think this upgrade, really unnecessary for people who have iPhone 13, iPhone 12, maybe
02:50even iPhone 11.
02:52We didn't get a new chip or anything like that, but like I said, it's just a minor sort
02:56of upgrade.
02:57It's sort of like an A15 plus chip, so, you know, it's not that big of an upgrade, but
03:03like I said, this could be a really good upgrade for anybody with an older iPhone.
03:07So iPhone 7, iPhone 8, 8 Plus, 6S, stuff like that.
03:11This is like a night and day difference if you have a much older, if you have a newer
03:15iPhone, because I've been getting that question, it's probably not worth it.
03:19All right, so let's go ahead and focus on what's actually new here, and it is this new
03:24display here.
03:26So it's a very nice looking updated display.
03:29They got rid of the notch.
03:30That's why I was really hoping for them to get rid of the notch on the 14, but maybe
03:36they will next year.
03:37But it does look really good.
03:39It looks more modern.
03:41The punch hole kind of reminds me of the S10 5G that I really love, but like I said, no,
03:48you know, it is what it is.
03:50Is it as good as a single punch hole like on the S22 Ultra?
03:54No, but it is what it is, right?
03:57So I do want to go ahead and show you guys this dynamic island display here, or the functionality
04:03here.
04:04As you can see, it expands, so it acts as like a multitasky sort of thing.
04:10So it can work for Spotify, YouTube Music, and stuff like that.
04:14You run the clock or stuff like that, then it'll go ahead and act as like a multitasking
04:18switcher, which I thought was a very clever thing from Apple to be able to do here.
04:24Also, what's new with the display is you do have the always on display functionality as
04:29well too, which is really nice.
04:30So you do have that.
04:32Now, there is some stuff going around about having this on being a hit to battery life,
04:39so that is definitely something I'm going to be watching out for.
04:41It might actually turn it off if that is the case.
04:44Now, the display is going to now go down to 1Hz, so hopefully that will help with the
04:52battery life just in general when you're on stuff like a webpage and stuff like that.
04:57So that will be really nice.
04:59And just watching content with the new display, I think it looks much better than the notch.
05:05Like I said, way more updated this time, so I'm really liking that.
05:10And I wonder if we have a speaker improvement on this phone.
05:13Let's go ahead and find out.

05:27No, not really.
05:28It still pretty much sounds like the 13 Pro.
05:31Still sounds really good though, really excellent.
05:33Real quality, great bass as well.
05:36They said the bezels are thinner on this year as well, which you can't really tell at all.
05:42One thing that you will be able to tell off the bat is these big cameras.
05:46They definitely got bigger for sure.
05:48You probably, if you guys can see that, they are pretty big.
05:53Also, so let's talk about iOS 16 and the Apple A16 chip.
06:01So you can see here are the Geekbench scores here.
06:04You get some crazy scores on this phone here.
06:07This is a very powerful phone.
06:08I think it beats pretty much any phone in terms of the benchmarks go.
06:14You have the 128 gigs and this is the 6 gig model.
06:17It goes all the way up to 1 terabyte with 6 gigs as well too.
06:22And one of the also new things with this phone is not just the crash detection and the SOS
06:30mode, or the satellite mode.
06:32So if you're stranded, you'll be able to connect to satellite.
06:34You can do that on the standard 14 as well too.
06:38But with this phone, you do now have a 48 megapixel camera that you can take advantage
06:43of.
06:44I believe you have to shoot in Pro Raw to be able to take advantage of that, but it
06:46is here.
06:47And you do have an updated camera system.
06:50You also have auto focus on the 14 Pro and the 14 as well too for the selfie cam as well,
06:58which is really nice.
06:59So I really enjoy.
07:01That should be really nice.
07:02So overall, you should get some more just detailed shots.
07:05And you can see now that you have a 2x option because this wasn't here before.
07:10So now you have that 2x option because of the 48 megapixels.
07:13It can just crop in with that 12 megapixel, I believe.
07:17And yeah, so far we're going to go out and take some shots with this phone.
07:24And I'll let you guys see some shots right here.
07:27So far, it's looking like the cameras are pretty good.
07:30Like I said, I would have to use it for a little bit longer to really be able to verify
07:36that.
07:37But yeah, so it's nice to see that we get an updated resolution.
07:40So when you basically zoom in the shots, you get to retain a little bit of detail, which
07:46is always nice.
07:47Now this phone does have a 3200 milliamp battery on here.
07:51We also can fast charge 50%, 30 minutes is what Apple was claiming.
07:56You have the MagSafe and then the wireless charging on here as well too.
08:01Like I said, if you have a 13 Pro, there's not a massive difference with this phone.
08:05I wouldn't rush to upgrade unless you really like this new display.
08:10If you really hated the notch like me and you really wanted a new display, this would
08:16be a great phone.
08:17The cameras are debatable.
08:18We'll see if the cameras are significantly better, but I highly doubt it from just what
08:23I've seen online.
08:25The satellite thing and the crash detection is a pretty awesome feature to have, but I
08:29don't think it's worth really upgrading for that.
08:34So we'll just have to see.
08:35The A16 chip is just blazing fast on here as well too, but again, the 13 Pro, very fast.
08:41So I think this will be a good upgrade, again, for people with older iPhones, and we'll get
08:45into that comparison.
08:47I think people will really like this phone if you're coming from a much older...
08:50Now with the 13, I keep calling this the 13, I keep calling it the 13 because it looks
08:54exactly like the 13, feels exactly like the 13.
08:58The 14 here, like I said, not really that exciting of a device here, unless you're coming
09:04from an older iPhone.
09:06Like I said, new camera on the front and back.
09:10They didn't increase the megapixels, but it is a new camera.
09:14Also the front is going to be a better camera as well too.
09:17You get autofocus for the video, which is really nice.
09:20Better selfies as well.
09:23But like I said, there's really nothing new going on with the 14.
09:26You don't get a new chipset, you don't really get a new design.
09:31Battery life is probably going to be more so the same.
09:34Like I said, it's just a very minor upgrade.
09:36You do get that satellite and crash detection and stuff like that, but like I said, it's
09:40really not that big of an upgrade.
09:43And I'll do a ton of comparisons comparing it to the other iPhones so you guys can sort
09:47of make that decision on if this is going to be worth spending the money or not if you
09:53want to upgrade from XS, 11, etc.
09:57But yeah, so I really do like the 14 Pro here.
10:02And if you're coming from an older iPhone, I think you'll probably like the standard
10:0714 as well too.
10:08It just really depends.
