00:00What's up guys, today I thought we'd revisit the iPhone 12.
00:03This is really one of the best iPhones you can pick up right now if you're looking for
00:07a affordable iPhone in the used refurbished marketplace and you have a budget of about
00:13$300 because you can pretty much get these in really good condition.
00:17This one I got, I actually think I got this off eBay used, but they have these Amazon
00:23Renew for $319 and it's a really good deal guys.
00:27I'm going to explain why this is one of the best iPhones.
00:29It's aged really, really well.
00:31One of the best things about this iPhone is that it pretty much looks like an iPhone 15
00:37besides the camera being rearranged, but it still looks great.
00:43It still has the boxy edges.
00:46It still looks very, very modern.
00:48That's one of the things I really like about it.
00:50It still has that really nice, fresh, modern look to it.
00:53It's IP68 dust and water resistant as well too.
00:57I think it still looks very, very good even with the notch up top because you got to remember
01:03Apple didn't actually get rid of the notch until what, the iPhone 15 actually, yeah.
01:08They didn't even get rid of the notch of the iPhone 15, so it still looks fairly modern
01:13for an older iPhone.
01:15The screen on the iPhone 12 is still pretty good.
01:17It has a 6.1 inch display, so it's pretty easy to one hand this device.
01:22Also, it does have a completely flat panel as well too.
01:26Again, you have the notch up top here, but this phone also has the Super Retina XDR OLED
01:32display.
01:33It's HDR10.
01:34It gets up to 1200 nits peak brightness as well too.
01:38It's pretty visible outdoors.
01:39I don't have too much of an issue when you're taking photos in direct sunlight and stuff
01:42like that.
01:43Also, this phone, it does have a pretty nice resolution as well too.
01:47It's 1170 by 2532.
01:51It is a pretty sharp panel with the, I think the PPI is 460, and overall it's a very nice
01:58looking display.
01:59I have no issues with the panel on this phone, and again, Apple's notch, when you compare
02:03it to Android and stuff like that, it does look a little bit outdated.
02:08It's been outdated for a while.
02:09They're actually now just starting to catch up, but besides that, it's a really nice display.
02:14Like I said, pretty good outdoors, very sharp, very good color profile.
02:19It's just an overall really good display, so I don't really have anything negative to
02:23say.
02:24This phone does not have any type of 90 hertz or 60 hertz.
02:27Like I said, Apple was kind of late to a lot of that stuff, but for a 60 hertz phone, I
02:33think it's fairly smooth.
02:36Yeah, I can tell it's 60 hertz because I use a lot of 120 hertz, 144 hertz phones, but
02:44yeah.
02:46The phone on here, I don't think most Apple people would even care.
02:50The display on here is fine.
02:51I have no issues with it.
02:52All right, so let's talk about the software.
02:54This is the reason why I would pick this up because you do have iPhone 11s.
02:58The iPhone 11 is still a pretty good choice.
03:00You can find those for, I think, roughly $250 to, yeah, a little bit under $250 if you look
03:06hard enough, but I would spend the extra $50, $60 and get the iPhone 12.
03:13Guys, if you plan on keeping it for a long time, because this phone, it should get up
03:17to iOS 20, so we are on iOS 17.1 and it's running really well.
03:22It's not slow at all.
03:24This phone is blazing fast.
03:25I actually did a YouTube short and a lot of people were surprised at how fast the iPhone
03:3212 was compared to the iPhone 15 Pro Max, so it's still a very speedy phone.
03:37You pretty much have all the same software features as well too, essentially.
03:42Overall, like I said, if you're going to get an iPhone and you want to keep it for a long
03:46time, I would get the iPhone 12.
03:49Like I said, just spend that extra $70 because I know a lot of people, when they think of
03:55the best, cheapest iPhone, you're probably going to go towards the iPhone 11, but as
03:59that phone is getting older, I would just spend a little bit extra money, depending
04:02on how long you keep phones.
04:04Let's talk about the actual specs here.
04:06This is where the iPhone 12 really just shines.
04:11This phone has the Apple A14 chip on here.
04:15One of the strange things with this phone and with a lot of these older iPhones is that
04:19it has 64 gigs of internal storage, which I don't think is going to cut it for most
04:24people.
04:25Like I said, if you're like me and you don't take a lot of videos and download a ton of
04:28stuff, you could get away with 64 gigs, but if you're taking a lot of photos and videos
04:33and downloading a lot of games, you probably want to get the 128 gig.
04:39Besides that, this is still a phenomenal phone when it comes to performance.
04:44This thing is really fast.
04:45Even playing PUBG, we're at HDR Extreme, and it does a great job with gaming.
04:51This phone does kind of get a little warm.
04:52I've never had it actually crash on me or anything like that.
04:55Again, I'm not a huge, huge gamer that's going to be gaming for hours, but to get a couple
04:59matches in on PUBG or Call of Duty or whatever you're playing, this phone will definitely
05:04do the job.
05:05As a casual gamer, even from the iPhone 15, I didn't see too much of a difference.
05:14If you are trying to game on the cheap, I would definitely buy this for that reason.
05:19It does a fantastic job.
05:21Like I said, there's pretty much no issue with gaming.
05:25Like I said, I haven't ran into any issues of this crashing and stuff like that, but
05:30as you guys can see, very consistent with 60 frames.
05:34The screen on here is pretty good, and also I'll show you guys the Geekbench scores so
05:38you can compare those.
05:42But here are the Geekbench scores, and you can see your multi-core score, which Apple
05:48chips are just really, really well-made since they have such great integration between the
05:54chip and iOS.
05:56So yeah, so overall, this is a super fast phone when it comes for gaming and just balancing
06:01an application.
06:02It doesn't feel slow at all.
06:03The phone has stereo speakers on it, so let's max the volume out and test it out.
06:25Pretty good amount of bass out of these speakers, so that's really nice.
06:28And if you cover the bottom speaker, you still get a pretty good amount of bass out of this
06:31top speaker.
06:32Also, the vibrations on this phone are pretty good as well, too.
06:36And you also have face unlock on here, which works really well, so no issues with that.
06:41All right, so let's talk about the cameras.
06:43So I'm going to say the cameras are still really good in my opinion, just looking at
06:47the shots and just taking photos with it.
06:50I think the only thing you would be missing out from the newer iPhones is the cinematic
06:55mode and the higher resolution modes, like the RAW photo modes and stuff like that.
07:01But if you're just somebody that's snapping photos, you are just taking videos, this does
07:06a really good job.
07:08So it has a 12 megapixel standard and a 12 megapixel ultrawide.
07:11It shoots in 4K60, and then you also have a 12 megapixel selfie cam that shoots in 4K60
07:17as well.
07:18I was pretty impressed with the shots on here.
07:21I really didn't have anything to complain about.
07:23You have really good color on here, really good dynamic range.
07:26Yeah, the standard iPhone models don't have any type of telephoto lens, but if you just
07:33come in to like two times, still it's going to give you a pretty decent shot for the most
07:38part.
07:39The ultrawide is very consistent with the main lens in terms of color, pretty good resolution
07:43there.
07:44Overall, I was really happy, even in sort of lower light situations, it still does a
07:48somewhat decent job as well too.
07:51So overall, I think the iPhone 12's camera is actually a pretty good video.
07:55Like I said, very solid on here as well too.
07:58So I think for $300, this is still a very capable phone.
08:02Like I said, if you want to see the shots next to the iPhone 15 Pro Max, you can kind
08:06of see the comparison.

08:09I do have a comparison on that.
08:12But overall, very good photos with the iPhone 12.
08:16Selfie cam also does a pretty good job as well too.
08:18Now battery life is pretty decent on the iPhone 12.
08:22Now it is going to depend, so I would definitely, when you buy, especially if you're buying
08:27on eBay, always ask for the battery health percentage.
08:31So you just come in here and go to battery health, and you can see mine's on 88%.
08:35If you're buying a refurbished, they're not allowed to give you any refurbished iPhone
08:40under 80%.
08:42So I would definitely try to aim for like this 85 and up.
08:48That's where you kind of want to be in that range.
08:51And I've been getting pretty good battery life on mine.
08:53So this phone definitely, yeah you gotta charge it, but I feel like it's not as bad as something
09:00like the iPhone 11, which has somewhat decent battery life, but I feel like I can squeeze
09:05six hours of screen on time out of this as a lighter user.
09:09So yeah, so I really like it.
09:11And also you do have the MagSafe on here as well too that you can take advantage of.
09:15So you can put the MagSafe accessories on the iPhone 12 as well too, which is really
09:20nice.
09:21It's just standard wireless charging.
09:23And yeah, so overall the iPhone 12, it's a pretty good device for going into 2024.
09:30If you have an older iPhone, like an iPhone 8, an iPhone 10, 10S, stuff like that, this
09:36is a very good jump because you're getting a much better display, a much updated design
09:41on here.
09:42You're also getting a much faster phone as well too.
09:45And then you know you're going to get those iOS updates for at least the next three years.
