00:00A world series is now set in Major League Baseball. Two series clinching
00:09potentials on both Saturday and Sunday. We'll start with game number six in the
00:15NLCS last night at the Ravine between the Dodgers and the Mets in Los Angeles.
00:21The New York Mets triumphant on offense on Friday to extend this series and send
00:27it back to Los Angeles. But it was the Dodgers showing that dominance once
00:32again and everything that they can do at the dish. LA wins 10-5 in game
00:38number six to clinch that ticket to a World Series. The fourth National League
00:43pennant for the Dodgers in their last 12 years where they have made the
00:47postseason all 12 seasons. Shohei Otani in RBI. Mookie Betts a couple of RBI's.
00:54But Donnie, the story of the NLCS might have been Tommy Edmund at the dish. He
00:59had four RBI's yesterday and a two-run shot to really extend the Dodgers lead
01:04early. LA triumphant in game number six. Getting to Shabaniya. The Dodgers win
01:1010-5 to earn that berth in the 2024 World Series. It's pretty crazy the way
01:16it played out, right? You take a look at the Mets in the run. They get in that
01:19little doubleheader on a Monday to try to squeak into the playoffs. The Brewers
01:22aren't a great hitting team. The Phillies were absolutely horrendous at
01:25the plate. But then they ran into a team that can absolutely mash. It doesn't
01:28matter what pitcher you're putting out there. The Shabaniyas of the world. You're
01:31taking a look at other pitchers in that lineup that the Phillies would just be
01:34swinging and missing a ball six to eight inches off of the plate routinely. The
01:37Dodgers didn't do that. They made that pitching stand for the Mets pay. That's a
01:41great season for the Mets overall. But you just ran into a Dodgers team that
01:44was absolutely red hot. And also Ben, let's just think about the future of the
01:47Dodgers. So many times I think about like the Chiefs like last year. You better
01:50get the Chiefs now because they're only going to improve their team. The Chiefs
01:53did improve the team. They just got injured this year. But the reason I
01:56bring it up with the Dodgers is the Dodgers in a pivotal game six through a
02:00bullpen game against the New York Mets in the future, Ben, that's not going to
02:03happen. Let's just say you don't have every single starter on your staff go
02:06down with injury, right? Next year, when Charlie Latane comes back and pitches on
02:10the mound, you probably add another frontline starter here. That's not going
02:13to be the case. So the Dodgers making it to the World Series with a it's unfair
02:18to say a below average starting pitching staff, but quite frankly, a
02:20major league baseball, the way it played out, it really isn't good. But the fact
02:24that they're able to get to the series with basically a bullpen pitching their
02:28games and being dominant, I don't have any words for it. Yeah, I mean, DRS,
02:33you're correct, right? One of the big offseason acquisitions, Tyler Glass. Now
02:37he was their ace, not pitching in this postseason out for the remainder of the
02:42year. Yoshi Yamamoto has been okay. He has not been great. Jack Flaherty a
02:48little bit up and down as well. Michael Kopech got the start last night. It was
02:54good enough for the Dodgers to win a lot of offense in this series. By the way,
02:59all six games at its conclusion, at least eight runs. All six games do go
03:06over a year for the Mets. They will remember, of course, the grimace era, a
03:10Mets organization that turned it on from June 1st and beyond, but still just
03:16a little bit short when they needed to come up with it here in the National
03:20League Championship Series. But this was what was expected for Los Angeles, a
03:25team that had a huge offseason to get Shohei Otani, to get Yoshinobu
03:30Yamamoto, to acquire Tyler Glass now, to get Teoscar Hernandez, only to have
03:35Tommy Hedman, a trade deadline acquisition when National League
03:40Championship Series MVP. We'll show you that in just a moment. But DRS, before
03:46we get to how this World Series is going to look, let's get to how it came
03:51together. The Yankees in game number five in Cleveland on Saturday night.
03:55Send it to extras Giancarlo Stanton answers with a two run shot after the
04:00Yanks trail to nothing for a majority of the game. So then we go to the 10th
04:06inning. Juan Soto, an absolute three run blast for the pinstripes in the 10th.
04:13The Yankees win in extras five to two to earn their first American League pennant
04:18since 2009. The Yankees knock off the Guardians in five games, four games to
04:24one to head back to the World Series for the first time since 2009, which was
04:29their last World Series championship.
04:32And on both sides, right? National League and American League talented rise to the
04:35occasion here with the Dodgers over the Mets and talented rise to the occasion
04:39with the New York Yankees over the Cleveland Guardians. That was supposed to
04:41happen here. And you do lean on some of your better players. Gleyber Torres was
04:44very good so far in the playoff run, hitting 297. Take a look at Juan Soto,
04:48333 and amazing like Aaron Judge at 161. And you're still dispatching of teams in
04:53the ALCS in a four to one fashion without your MVP performing here. That's
04:58incredible. Now, yes, he did have some important swings here. Did it equate to
05:01victories? Not necessarily because that crazy game that the Cleveland Guardians
05:04won, which was the only win of the series. I thought the Yankees would get
05:08here. The Yankees are equipped enough to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers. But I
05:12think as baseball fans, I'm a Phillies fan, right? And Mets fans probably upset
05:15this morning that 13 got knocked out. But baseball is such a big win here. All
05:19you ask for East Coast Monster City, West Coast Monster City, the biggest of
05:25biggest Titan superstars on both sides here to mammoth fan bases. The entire
05:29country can buy into this one. It's gonna be great to watch it play out.
05:33Baseball is the big winner after those two outcomes in the ALCS in the NLCS. I
05:38mean, no doubt about it. D. R. S. These are two of the iconic brands in
05:42baseball to the most storied franchises in all of sports. And again, when you
05:48talk about how these series came to a head and what has been happening in
05:51this postseason for the Yanks offensively, it hasn't been Aaron
05:55Judge wants Soto pretty good in the ALCS has gotten on base a ton, but it's
06:01really been Giancarlo Stanton as that offensive driver for this pinstripes
06:06club. He has been great in his postseason history in delivering once
06:11again on Saturday night. He won ALCS MVP. Not overly shocking. 8 to 1 was
06:18his price behind Judge in Soto and J. Ram Jose Ramirez for Cleveland for
06:24home runs in the ALCS in huge spots each and every time seven R. B. I. S.
06:31Tommy Edmond was 100 to 1 to 10 to 1 rather, whatever that price is a large
06:37number for Tommy Edmond to win the NLCS MVP. It is 100 to 1, right? I'm reading
06:44that correct. Anyway, so yeah, yeah, it's tough, you know, doing it on the
06:49fly. Math, mental math is difficult. Time for the 21st shortest price to
06:54win the NLCS MVP. But the guy bat five or four oh seven. He was 11 or 27 in
07:00this series, had multiple base knocks in four of six games, one home run,
07:06which he had in game number 6 11 R. B. I. S. This was a guy who had not
07:10played all year for ST Louis was acquired at the deadline along with
07:15Michael Kovac, by the way, who did start or at least opened game number
07:19six and delivers for the Dodgers. It's almost unthinkable. And yet he sends L.
07:25A. To the World Series and Giancarlo Stanton, the key ingredient ingredient
07:30for New York to play the World Series after 15 years once again. It's
07:35unbelievable. It really is. And you see some of these times you have these
07:37great stories late. We're talking about not a season like, Hey, you're
07:41gonna grade you on 1 62. You get graded on these MVPs based on 56 or seven
07:45games. However fast you clinch that series here and Tommy Edmond. And it
07:49wasn't as if bands like, Hey, man, he was awesome out of the eight hole. He
07:52backed cleanup last night, two for five last night, four R. B. I. Including a
07:56home run. Man's stories just write themselves at this point, and we're
07:59setting up for a big time World Series. Can Edmond continue? Is he going to
08:03back cleanup in the World Series? It's just a wild story that you never could
08:07have told me. You're right. 10 to 101, 1001. That price is so big, like,
08:10didn't even have odds to start the series. Would it be a better question?
08:14I mean, shout out to our producer extraordinaire Joe Friezo for even
08:18tracking that number. I'm surprised it was even listed. So it's the Yankees
08:24and the Dodgers in the World Series for the 12th time ever. The first since
08:291981 between these storied and iconic franchises. Of course, they met a ton
08:35back in the day. The Yanks have won eight World Series against the Dodgers
08:39in the 11 previous meetings, but it's the Dodgers favored to win this World
08:45Series. Minus 1 28 is the outright price. Game number one at Chavez Ravine
08:51in downtown L. A. On Friday night, the Dodgers a game one favorite at minus
08:551 30.
08:57It's great, and I can't wait to watch it play out of Friday. That is the
09:00perfect start for the series. Let the tension build between the two cities
09:03here. I think we're expected to have a nice long. I don't expect this to be
09:08closed at five, which means we'll get a great World Series of betting and fun
09:12to recap it and certainly preview it. No doubt about it. Minus 200 to the over
09:17of 5.5 total games.
