00:03If you wanted to go deeper down the board, Kevin Walsh, who gets
00:06your attention? Well, I was watching a little bit of the
00:10pick six. You have a little Victor Web and Yama love out
00:13there at twenty to one. I placed my Wemby MVP bet the
00:17second day open the market at I believe fifty to one. So, from
00:21that respect, I'm I'm happy about it, right? I've done a
00:24good job. I fear though that the end result here is going to be
00:28just a job well done. Way to beat the odds, kid. Paul
00:31Skeen's two hundred to win Cy, you know, two hundred to one to
00:33win Cy Young. What what did it matter? You know, it's gonna
00:36have the same fate as anybody who bent Spencer Strider to win
00:39that award all in all. I I think Wemby has a better chance
00:43than a lot of the guys in front of him because Wemby is going
00:47to hit the advanced box score numbers that people still
00:51pretend don't matter. Just things that Tatum literally has
00:55no chance to ever hit in his career based on all of the
00:58evidence of his career. The stuff that Anthony Edwards
01:01isn't close to like flirting with whatsoever plus the
01:04Minnesota team got worse this offseason. I have no idea what
01:07people are talking about. Like Wemby is pretty conservatively
01:11been going to finish with one of the five best box score plus
01:14minus numbers in basketball and that has been the most
01:17predictive statistic in the league in terms of who wins an
01:21MVP on a year in year out basis. So, when you look at it
01:25Kev, there is always the correlation of individual
01:27accolades and team success. There is no doubt what Wemby
01:31can do in filling up the stat sheet. The unanimous rookie of
01:34the year, just the sixth we have ever seen win that award in
01:38NBA history. But his San Antonio team last year finished
01:41twenty-two and sixty, second worst record in the Western
01:45Conference. The outlook this year is better and substantially
01:48so but not necessarily a playoff team or getting to
01:52forty wins. Thirty-five and a half is the Spurs win total
01:56entering this year. It's a plus three sixty playoff price for
02:00San Antonio. How good do the Spurs have to be for Victor
02:04Weminyama to be a legitimate MVP contender? I would say
02:08above five hundred and in the playoffs. Now, I don't think
02:11he has to do more than that. He does not have to win forty-nine
02:13games. He doesn't have to be the three seed. If he is
02:17forty-three, thirty-nine, and the seven seed. Now, all of a
02:21sudden, my tone will change quite a lot and I think we can
02:23cash this ticket because now you're talking about adding
02:26twenty wins year over year and I know a lot of people be like,
02:29well, yeah, but you're not going to win twenty, you know,
02:31you're not going to add twenty games year over year. The
02:33Thunder just did it. The Oklahoma City Thunder just did
02:36it and what I think is a lot more difficult way to do it by
02:38the way. The Thunder went from flirting in the back end of
02:41the play in to the second best record in basketball. We're
02:45asking the Spurs to go from one of the worst teams in
02:48basketball to competent and you cannot then go through history
02:53and find a player as good as Victor Webenyama that isn't
02:57competent. You can't find it. Yeah. It is this simple on the
03:00Spurs. The thirty-five and a half number will get absolutely
03:03obliterated as long as he stays healthy. He was healthy last
03:08year. He was. Yeah. When he is so big, we just kind of assume
03:12that there's going to be points in our lives watching. We're
03:14like, oh man, hope the injury bug stops biting this kid but
03:17so far so good. I the only other thing you worry about a
03:21little bit is is Chris Paul too important to this team? Like I
03:25think the fully healthy Spurs are going to be really good but
03:28if this team needs Chris Paul to keep their offensive flow and
03:32competent again, that's worrisome because you can
03:35pretty much lock him in for about twenty-five missed games.
