00:29Our scriptural text today comes from Psalm 106, verse 24 and 25,
00:35the New Living Translation of the Scriptures.
00:38Notice there these words,
00:41The people refused to enter the pleasant land,
00:44for they wouldn't believe His promise to care for them.
00:48Instead, they grumbled in their tents and refused to obey the Lord.
00:55We're talking today simply from the subject, the dangers of grumbling.
01:00The dangers of grumbling.
01:04This is the very God who had brought the children of Israel up out of the land of Egypt,
01:09out of the house of bondage, out of slavery, out of not having enough.
01:15And He's in the process of taking them to a promised land.
01:20And somehow the impatience of the people,
01:26the unbelief of the very people that had already witnessed
01:31all of the ten miracles of God miraculously delivering them
01:35out of Egypt, out of slavery, out of bondage,
01:40and now in their impatience they don't have enough faith and trust in God
01:45to believe that God will be able to take them to the land of promise.
01:49And so they grumbled in their tent and they refused to obey the Lord.
01:56This is about the dangers of grumbling.
01:59It's interesting that the ESV, the English Standard Version of the Bible,
02:03says that the children of Israel despised the promised land, the pleasant land.
02:09They despised it.
02:11When you despise something, it means that you minimize it
02:15or that you make little of it.
02:17You despise. When you despise someone, you make little of that particular thing.
02:22But I want you to realize that the real root of despising is disbelief.
02:29And disbelief eventually turns into dissatisfaction.
02:35And dissatisfaction can degenerate into becoming disgruntled.
02:40And being disgruntled manifests in being disrespectful.
02:45And being disrespectful deteriorates into being disobedient.
02:50And then disobedience results in being denied.
02:55And this is the journey that the children of Israel went on.
02:59They started out despising that led to their disbelief,
03:02that led to their dissatisfaction, that led to their being disgruntled,
03:06that led to their disrespect, that disrespect led to their disobedience,
03:10and that disobedience led to their being denied.
03:13The book of Hebrews helps us to see that it was actually their distrust of God
03:19that kept them from entering into the place or the land of promise.
03:24It was their distrust.
03:27And this is why whenever you have gone through trauma,
03:31that if you don't get healed of your trauma,
03:34your trauma will lead you into deeper trouble.
03:37And that's why whatever it takes for you to get healed of your trauma,
03:42of whatever has traumatized and abused your life,
03:45I mean, whatever therapy that you need, if you need professional help, get it.
03:49If reading your Bible, if praying, if fasting, if talking to someone,
03:53if journaling in a diary helps you,
03:57do whatever you need to do in order to get healed of your trauma
04:00because if you don't deal with your trauma,
04:02your trauma will lead you into deeper trouble.
04:06And so in Hebrews chapter 3 and verse 19,
04:10it's giving us an amplifier.
04:13Looking back in the Old Testament, we all say that hindsight is 20-20.
04:17Well, Hebrews in the New Testament is giving us a hindsight view
04:21of what happened to the children of Israel walking through there.
04:24Hebrews chapter 3 and verse 9 in the Amplified Version says this.
04:28So we see that they were not able to enter,
04:32enter His rest, which was the promised land,
04:35because of unbelief and an unwillingness to trust in God.
04:41Can you imagine that the children of Israel
04:45that had already witnessed all of the 10 spectacular miracles of God
04:50delivering them out of Egypt, I mean, they saw the plague of locusts,
04:54the flies, the frogs, the water turning into blood,
04:58the three days of thick darkness.
05:01All of these miracles that God did
05:04to bring them out of the land of Egypt
05:07and now they distrust the God who brought them out,
05:11distrusting Him that He has the capacity to take them in.
05:15They don't know the nature of God.
05:17If they knew that He is the Alpha and the Omega,
05:21the Beginning and the Ending,
05:23the First and the Last, the Author and the Finisher,
05:28that whatever God starts, He's obligated to finish.
05:31But can you imagine the insult that that was to God,
05:34that the very God that brought you out of something,
05:36you don't have enough faith to trust Him
05:38that He's able to take you into the next?
05:40If He could deliver you from your ex,
05:42He can deliver you to your next.
05:49I mean, trust Him on that. Trust Him on that. Trust Him on that.
05:52I mean, it's a miracle to get delivered from an ex.
05:58But what's stronger to be delivered from
06:00is to be delivered to.
06:03When God saves us, it's not merely what you're saved from,
06:06it's what you're saved to.
06:08You're saved to a kingdom purpose,
06:10and so you have to surrender your doubts to Jesus
06:13so that you can actually get your deliverance.
06:16And I want you to realize this principle
06:18that just because you don't understand what God is doing,
06:22why He is doing it, or why it has taken so long
06:25doesn't mean that you should fail to trust Him.
06:28I mean, just because you don't understand
06:30what He's doing and why He's doing it
06:32and why it's taken so long
06:34does not mean that you should fail to trust Him.
06:36Touch somebody and say,
06:38trust God, trust God, trust God.
06:40God's a way maker. Just trust Him.
06:42You may not see how.
06:44You feel like you're in deep voodoo now,
06:46you're in deep waters now.
06:48Listen, trust God, trust God, trust God.
06:50And I give you this word of advice,
06:52you don't let a divine delay
06:54be turned into a devilish disappointment.
06:57Trust Him, trust Him, trust Him.
06:59Trust Him, trust Him.
07:01Because disappointment does not have to degenerate
07:05into becoming disgruntled.
07:07But here's one caveat.
07:09If you learn how to groan,
07:12you either groan or you grumble.
07:16You groan or you grumble.
07:18Groaning is a response to pain or to discomfort.
07:23I mean, when you're sick,
07:25your stomach is hurting over the night,
07:27you got a pain in your back, in your legs.
07:30Anybody ever had sciatica issues?
07:33I mean, it'll make you groan.
07:35I mean, it'll make you tap out.
07:38Pain can make you groan.
07:41Discomfort can make you groan.
07:43And it's an expression of hurt.
07:47Just because you have faith
07:49does not mean you don't feel pain.
07:53Faith helps us through the pain.
07:56But the pain can be deeply intense
07:59even while you have faith.
08:01And you have immature Christianity
08:05if you assume that having faith
08:07means that you will not experience pain.
08:09It means that God will come into the pain with you.
08:13That He sits into the pain
08:15like a woman going through childbirth
08:18and the contractions are coming
08:20and you could be speaking the words
08:22and confessing and singing songs of praise and worship
08:25but something is still bearing down.
08:28And you're gonna still feel something
08:31even while you're calling on His name.
08:34You're gonna feel it.
08:36So having faith doesn't stop you from feeling the pain.
08:40And so God's question to you is
08:42can you still trust Him while you're still hurting?
08:45Can you trust Him?
08:47Can you trust Him?
08:48Can you trust Him?
08:50I love it, you know, that
08:52we see in the life of Jesus
08:55in St. John chapter 11 and verse 33
08:57the Bible says that when Jesus saw Mary
09:01you know Mary and Martha
09:03and remember their brother had died
09:05and Jesus loved Lazarus
09:07and when Jesus saw Mary weeping and wailing
09:11and the other Jews that came with her
09:13saw them weeping and wailing
09:15grief is contagious.
09:17Grief is nothing more than love that has no place to go.
09:21And when Jesus saw Mary weeping
09:24in John 11, 33
09:26the Bible says that Jesus groaned
09:28in the Spirit Himself.
09:30He groaned because He loved Lazarus
09:33and while He was hurting
09:34instead of grumbling against God
09:36He began to groan.
09:38And if you learn how to groan instead of grumble
09:40you can take a negative experience
09:42and turn it into a positive one.
09:46Notice the psalmist
09:48in Psalm 118 verse 5 and 6
09:50notice what he says
09:52in my distress, in my discomfort, in my pain
09:55when I was stressed out
09:57I prayed to the Lord
09:59and the Lord answered me
10:01and He set me free
10:03He gave me a bigger area to relieve my pain
10:06so the Lord is for me
10:09so I will have no fear
10:11what can mere people do to me?
10:15I mean when you've been through some stuff
10:17you know it's like you know what, bring it on.
10:19I done already been hurt
10:21but you got somebody that's already been betrayed
10:23they've already experienced pain
10:25and then they're like you know what else can happen
10:27I mean what can mere human beings
10:29I mean if the Lord is for me
10:31what can mere human beings do against me?
10:33But I want you to notice in Psalm 106
10:35in verse 25
10:37it said that the people grumbled
10:39in their tent
10:41that's talking about somebody
10:43behind their back
10:45that is the behavior of a coward
10:47they didn't grumble out in the open
10:50they grumbled in their tent
10:53they grumbled in their tent
10:55they grumbled privately
10:57they grumbled privately
10:59and this is really what this is
11:01this is about
11:03nursing your grudges
11:05your grudges
11:07instead of airing your grievances
11:09and when you nurse a grudge
11:11instead of airing a grievance
11:13then that grudge
11:15will turn into something
11:17like resentment
11:19instead of allowing it to become
11:21groanings
11:23and if you don't turn it into groaning
11:25it'll turn into grumbling
11:27and after you grumble
11:29and speak privately
11:31in your tent
11:33in your tent about somebody
11:35and I don't know whether you realize it or not
11:37but your tent is your own house
11:39and when you talk about people
11:41behind their back
11:43in your house
11:45in your tent
11:47and when you come together
11:49people can feel
11:51even though they didn't hear it
11:53but they can feel
11:55when you have contaminated
11:57yourself with negative thoughts
11:59concerning them
12:01in their absence
12:03when people really love you
12:05when they really are in your corner
12:07they are cheering for you
12:09in your absence
12:11they are dropping your name
12:13in your absence
12:15they are celebrating you in your absence
12:17they are bragging on you
12:19in your absence
12:21but when people are so little
12:23that they start talking about you
12:25in their tent
12:27it is the behavior of a coward
12:29that grumbles
12:31in the tent in a private place
12:33instead of airing your grievances
12:35you would just rather
12:37just go ahead and if you got a problem with me
12:39let's talk about it
12:41talk to me, don't talk about me
12:43there are three things
12:45that you cannot recover in life
12:47and that is the word after it is spoken
12:49the moment after it is missed
12:51and the time after it is gone
12:53there are certain things
12:55you just can't recover
12:57so you have to be able to seize the moment
12:59and you have to watch your mouth
13:01because once you let that word go out
13:03you can't take it back
13:05it's just out there
13:07people say hurtful things to you
13:09and they apologize
13:11but the apologizing doesn't stop the hurt
13:13it's amazing
13:15I love the words of Kratos
13:17who said this
13:19don't be sorry, be better
13:21be better
13:23work on being better
13:25it's to be better
13:27don't merely be sorry, be better
13:29be better
13:31it is interesting here that
13:33God was taking the children of Israel through a process
13:35and process is necessary
13:37for development
13:41God just wants to know
13:43who can celebrate in public
13:45and then they go home and mumble and grumble
13:47in their tent
13:49it reminds me of the story
13:51in 2nd Kings chapter 7
13:53when the Bible talked about
13:55there were four leprous people
13:57and God had already prophesied
13:59saying that by this time tomorrow
14:01that meal
14:03that bread is going to be this price
14:05and grain is going to be that price
14:07and they say yeah right
14:09and God says you'll be able to see it
14:11but you won't be able to partake of it
14:13you'll see it and sure enough
14:15the crowd of folks coming there
14:17and the very folks that had the doubt concerning
14:19that got killed in the process
14:21they saw it but they couldn't enter it
14:23and that's what distrust
14:25when you distrust God it'll snatch it away from you
14:27it'll snatch it away
14:29it is interesting that
14:31these particular things
14:33are given to us in Scripture
14:35to be able to teach us
14:37the greatest value of history
14:39is as a teacher
14:41the greatest value of history
14:43is as a teacher
14:45and I want you to notice some things that the Bible gives us
14:47that are for our example
14:49that teach us in 1 Corinthians chapter 10
14:51notice verse 6 through 12
14:53in the Passion Translation of the Scripture
14:55now all of these things
14:57serve as types
14:59and pictures for us
15:01lessons that teach us
15:03not to fail in the same way
15:05by callously craving
15:07worthless things
15:09and practicing idolatry as some of them did
15:11for it is written that the people
15:13settle in their unrestrained revelry
15:15their partying with feasting
15:17and drinking and then they rose up
15:19and became wildly out of control
15:21neither should we commit sexual
15:23immorality as some of them did
15:25which caused the death of 23,000
15:27on a single day
15:29nor should we ever provoke the Lord
15:31as some of them did by putting
15:33him to outrageous tests
15:35that resulted in their death from snake bites
15:37day after day
15:39and we must not embrace their ways
15:41by complaining, notice this
15:43grumbling with discontent
15:45as many of them did and were killed
15:47by the destroyer
15:49all the tests that they
15:51endured on their way through the wilderness
15:53are a symbolic picture
15:55an example that provides us
15:57with a warning so that we can learn
15:59through what they experienced
16:01for we live in a time
16:03when the purpose of all the ages
16:05is now completing its goal
16:07within us, so beware
16:09if you think that it could never happen to you
16:11lest your pride becomes your downfall
16:13I want you
16:15to see here that there were
16:17five major things
16:19that kept the children of Israel
16:21out of the promised land
16:23and they are the same five things
16:25that actually keep us
16:27out of our promised land
16:29today, here they are
16:31number one, lust
16:33lust is craving
16:35a worthless and ungodly thing
16:37number two, idolatry
16:39this is worshiping false gods
16:41this is paganism, this is anything
16:43that is anti to being able to
16:45connect with the God who is holy
16:47number three is fornication
16:49this is sexual immorality
16:51it's a general term
16:53the term that we have translated as
16:55fornication literally means
16:57sexual immorality
16:59you'll figure out what that is
17:01so number four is
17:03tempting Christ
17:05tempting Christ is asking Jesus
17:07to do something that is
17:09inconsistent with his character
17:11because you got trouble with somebody
17:13on your job, you ask God to kill your boss
17:15that is inconsistent
17:17with the character of Jesus Christ
17:19and number five is murmuring
17:21and this is grumbling
17:23and complaining, these five
17:25things kept them, this is what the Bible
17:27says, as a student of history
17:29these five things kept
17:31them out of their promised land
17:33and they'll keep you out of your promised land
17:35lust, I mean Diddy is
17:37in some trouble today over
17:39some lust issues, some wild
17:41parties and reveling, some idolatry
17:43some fornication, some
17:45tempting Christ, asking Jesus
17:47to do something inconsistent with his character
17:49and then murmuring, these were the five
17:51sins that kept them out of the promised land and they'll
17:53keep you out of your promised land
17:55so just be in the know
17:57I love something that Vincent Van Gogh said
17:59he said great things are not done by impulse
18:01they're done by a series of
18:03small things brought together
18:05just a series of small things
18:07brought together, so whenever
18:09you get angry at something, you've got a
18:11grievance with somebody, you're
18:13upset, you've been out of shape
18:15whenever you're stressed out
18:17chill out
18:19just chill out
18:21you know why? because the calmer
18:23that you are, the clearer
18:25you think and the more peace that you enjoy
18:27the calmer that you
18:29are, the calmer that you
18:31are, the clearer that you think
18:33and the more peace you enjoy
18:35the moment you lose your temper, you get crazy
18:37you begin to talk
18:39without logic, you just sound crazy
18:41you know the one that has the most reason
18:43in an argument is the one that is calmer
18:45because the moment
18:47that your switch
18:49flips
18:51and you just unload on a person
18:53you become irrational
18:55unreasonable
18:57and it's a waste of time to even talk
18:59to the person under those
19:01circumstances
19:03so you have to just calm
19:05down, just chill out
19:07just back away
19:09just go on a mental vacation
19:11for a moment
19:13and just, whenever you get frustrated
19:15and you will get frustrated
19:17and whenever you get angry, and you will get angry
19:19and when that happens to you
19:21it's the time
19:23to just halt
19:25I've told you this before
19:27I use it as an acronym
19:29halt whenever you're hungry
19:31you make bad decisions
19:33when you're hungry
19:35whenever you're angry, you make bad decisions
19:37when you're angry
19:39whenever you're lonely, whenever you're too lonely
19:41you make bad decisions
19:43and the T is tired
19:45whenever you get too tired, you start leaning
19:47more toward the problem than you do toward the solution
19:49you'll never be able to figure things out
19:51when you're tired, best thing you can do
19:53is to go to sleep and allow the committee
19:55of sleep to work on your problem
19:57when you get up in the morning, you can have greater clarity
19:59of thought, but you have to halt
20:01halt whenever you're too hungry
20:03whenever you're too angry
20:05whenever you're too lonely, and whenever you're too tired
20:07just halt, chill out
20:09and then your thinking
20:11will become clear
20:13and it'll stop you from some of the grumbling
20:15some people grumble just cause they're hungry
20:19and angry, that's what we call hangry
20:23and some folks just cause they're lonely
20:25they don't have anybody to love them
20:27to just hug them, to just
20:29make them feel special, to celebrate them
20:31and lonely people
20:33can be irritable people
20:35mean and ornery
20:37just because they don't have anybody
20:39in their life, but I want you to realize this
20:43that the greatest antidote
20:45towards grumbling
20:47is gratitude
20:49this is why Anne Frank
20:51said that dead people receive more
20:53flowers than the living ones
20:55because regret is stronger than gratitude
20:59isn't that interesting? isn't it interesting
21:01you can go out to the cemetery and see flowers out there
21:03but you don't see them on the nightstand
21:07you don't see them on your office desk
21:09but dead people got all the flowers
21:11because regret
21:13is stronger than gratitude
21:15you can control that
21:17give people their flowers
21:19while they're alive
21:21celebrate people
21:23when they fix a meal, celebrate it
21:25thank you so much, my goodness
21:27even if it wasn't the best, it took effort to get it on the plate
21:31acknowledge that, celebrate that
21:33be thankful for that, it may not be the best
21:35but be thankful for what you've got
21:37be thankful
21:39because gratitude is the antidote
21:41for grumbling
21:43so focus on what you are
21:45thankful for
21:47focus on it, focus on God's mercy
21:49that kept bad things
21:51from happening to you when you deserved all of them
21:53coming down to you at one time
21:55I say it this way
21:57that grumbling can keep you out of your promised land
21:59but gratitude and kindness
22:01will accelerate your journey
22:03and make it more enjoyable
22:05I mean just kindness
22:07and gratitude can accelerate
22:09your journey
22:11and one of the things that I see
22:13in our world today
22:15it is interesting that
22:19people love Facebook
22:21they don't get in His book
22:27they're on TikTok and not realizing that TikTok
22:29is wasting their time
22:33I mean it's amazing
22:35and the meanness
22:37that you see
22:39online because
22:41you tap into what's known as like
22:43mob violence because there's a certain
22:45kind of anonymity
22:47people will say nasty things
22:49I mean as kind as the bishop is
22:51as kind as I am in trying to put encouraging
22:53words out there, I get nasty people
22:55sometimes that'll come in and just
22:57be nasty and put nasty comments
22:59onto something positive that I posted
23:01do you think I lose
23:03any sleep over it?
23:05I mean I'm built for it
23:07I'm like
23:09you're doing what you're doing because of the nature
23:11of who you are and I am doing what I'm doing
23:13because of the nature of who I am
23:15and what's on the inside of me
23:19but I would like
23:21to give to people
23:23who
23:25need some help because I'm a father
23:29fathers define things
23:31let me give you some ways
23:33to have Christian
23:35etiquette online
23:37an etiquette of kindness
23:41an etiquette of kindness
23:43the only reason that I'm saying this
23:45is because sometimes I can't tell
23:47who's church people and who's not
23:49because the church folks
23:51just as nasty as everybody, I mean I can't
23:53tell
23:55so I just want
23:57to give you some guidelines, I'm not going to operate
23:59under assumptions
24:05I hope you'll, this is my nature
24:07this is what I do, this is who
24:09I am
24:11I just want to give you some ways
24:13to have a Christian etiquette
24:15of kindness when online
24:17number one, think
24:19before you post or comment
24:21think
24:23think, put it through the think test
24:27think, is it true
24:29is it helpful, is it
24:31inspiring, is it necessary
24:33is it kind, just think
24:35process this thing internally
24:37before you express yourself
24:39online
24:41I meant journal if you need to do so
24:43in a real journal
24:45in a real diary
24:47don't react, respond
24:49and response always
24:51requires thought
24:53so think before you post
24:55or before you comment
24:57number two, be charitable with people
24:59be charitable with people
25:01when I say that, that means to give people
25:03the benefit of the doubt, maybe they just
25:05misspell the word, maybe they're not ignorant
25:09give people the benefit of the doubt
25:11be charitable, maybe they made
25:13an honest mistake, maybe they
25:15were frustrated, maybe they
25:17were, maybe they didn't hold
25:19they were hungry, they were angry, they were lonely
25:21maybe they were tired when they
25:23said this, be charitable
25:25with people, number three
25:27filter passionate
25:29or harsh posts through your
25:31inner circle
25:33let me just tell you, everybody that's online
25:35is not your inner circle
25:37you need to process some things
25:39through your inner circle, call
25:41Helen, call Shirley
25:43call Angela
25:45say hey, listen, I'm into my feelings
25:47right now and I really want to put
25:49I want to put Josephine on blast
25:53process this out
25:55with somebody that can talk you
25:57off of the ledge
25:59process your feelings
26:01with a small inner circle
26:03that's not online but that's in your
26:05life and just realize
26:07that not everybody
26:09who is in your circle really is
26:11in your corner
26:13but find people
26:15that are in your inner circle
26:17that are also in your corner that you can
26:19trust and use them
26:21as a sounding board
26:23before you go public
26:25before you go
26:27public, I mean
26:29just think about it, don't get dressed in front
26:31of the window
26:35I'm just
26:37but filter those
26:39passionate and harsh posts
26:41through your inner circle, just run it
26:43through people before you share them with
26:45the external world, share them
26:47with trusted people that can give you
26:49wise counsel, here's the next thing
26:51if you're into your feelings, write in your journal
26:53use a journal
26:55get an old fashioned journal
26:57get some pen and paper
26:59and process those thoughts
27:01privately and the
27:03emotions privately
27:05not publicly
27:07private thoughts require an atmosphere
27:09of trust and confidentiality
27:11and online
27:13is not trust and is certainly
27:15not confidentiality
27:17so understand this
27:19privacy is a super power
27:21it's a super power
27:23here's the next one
27:25avoid sarcasm and irony
27:27you know why I say that
27:29because they can be easily
27:31misunderstood in text form
27:33and you're not able to discern
27:35their tone in a text
27:37so you can be sarcastic
27:39in person because they know you're being sarcastic
27:41but when you're online, they really can't tell
27:43here's the next one
27:45use your post as an opportunity to encourage
27:47others, use your post
27:49to encourage, share good news, the world is
27:51filled up with a lot of bad news, lustful
27:53stuff, vile stuff, attacks
27:55it's filled with bullying
27:57and all of that stuff, be different
27:59we're Christians, we're supposed to
28:01be different
28:03so use your text as an opportunity
28:05to be able to encourage
28:07others, here's the next one, show appreciation
28:09and gratitude, I mean if somebody
28:11says something to you, just show appreciation
28:13say thank you for that
28:15just say you know what, you're right about that
28:17I appreciate this
28:19all of those kinds of compliments
28:21to people will go a long way
28:23just showing kindness
28:25and then I would say this, apologize
28:27when needed
28:29if you didn't filter
28:31things properly
28:33be big enough to apologize
28:35if you couldn't do it right the first time
28:37at least be right in showing them how to
28:39apologize, so apologize
28:41we're human, we make mistakes
28:43we say things that we shouldn't say
28:45we do things that we shouldn't do, we're human
28:47so acknowledging that
28:49can de-escalate conflicts
28:51when you just apologize when needed
28:53and then respect other people's privacy
28:55don't just take stuff
28:57that you don't have permission to do
28:59and then share it publicly
29:01in such a public format
29:03respect other people's privacy the same way
29:05that you want somebody to respect your privacy
29:07instead of a
29:09conversation, it's a low down thing
29:11for you to text someone personally
29:13to their telephone and then they take
29:15a screenshot of it and post it online
29:17that's not
29:19showing kindness, that's not showing courtesy
29:21that's disrespecting something
29:23that was shared with you in a
29:25private moment, so respect the privacy
29:27of other people's and then
29:29use polite and friendly
29:31language, you know why?
29:33because texts lack the
29:35nuance of all of the different
29:37types of things that you can do with the gesticulation
29:39in your voice or with your
29:41body, so choose your words
29:43very very carefully so
29:45that you minimize misunderstandings
29:47but just use polite
29:49and friendly language
29:51so that people can understand
29:53through your words since they
29:55can't through tone or through
29:57gestures really understand
29:59what you're saying, but these are just a few
30:01those are 10
30:03suggestions, they're not 10 commandments
30:05they're just 10 suggestions
30:07that allow us to be
30:09more congenial in the
30:11online world because
30:13everybody else is grumbling and
30:15griping about something and
30:17they just need, we need more good news
30:19in our world because the world
30:21shares enough bad news all
30:23the time
30:25I would say this to you
30:27turn your
30:29groaning or your grumbling
30:31I would say into groaning
30:33turn your grumbling into
30:35groaning and just understand that
30:37we're commissioned by God to be
30:39able to do this, notice Romans chapter
30:418 verse 23 through 26, notice
30:43and we believers
30:45also groan, notice
30:47that we believers groan
30:49not grumble, believers groan
30:51we groan
30:53that means we're responding to a pain
30:55as believers we
30:57experience pain and we groan
30:59even though we have the Holy Spirit within
31:01us as a foretaste of
31:03future glory for we
31:05long for our bodies to be
31:07released from sin and
31:09suffering, we too with
31:11eager hope for the day when
31:13God will give us our full rights
31:15as His adopted children
31:17including the new bodies that He has
31:19promised us, I don't know about you but I'm excited
31:21about the new bodies that we'll
31:23be able to get but sometime
31:25while you got this old body you'll get ready to
31:27make a move and you're gonna have to groan
31:29you know so take care
31:31of it the best that you can but
31:33we believers also
31:35groan, we groan
31:37in that particular
31:39areas and notice
31:41we were given this hope when we were saved
31:43and if we already have
31:45something we don't need
31:47to hope for it and then
31:49notice but if we
31:51look forward to something that we don't
31:53have yet we must wait
31:55patiently and confidently
31:57and then this is what I wanted to get to verse 26
31:59and the Holy Spirit
32:01helps us in
32:03our weakness
32:05for example we don't know what
32:07God wants us to pray for but the
32:09Holy Spirit prays
32:11for us with
32:13groanings
32:15that cannot be expressed in words
32:17sometimes
32:19life will hit you in an
32:21area that is so hard
32:23that you can't even articulate
32:25it with words
32:27anybody ever been body slammed
32:29by life and words
32:31are not adequate
32:33they cannot sufficiently
32:35express what you are feeling
32:37that's what a groan is for
32:39but the Holy Spirit is able
32:41to translate groaning
32:43into articulate speech
32:45and it becomes a powerful prayer
32:47in the heart of God
32:49I never will forget I went to
32:51one of my teachers
32:53one of my school
32:55teachers mothers who was in hospice
32:57and
32:59she said I want you to go and pray for my mother
33:01and I said okay I will
33:03and when I went
33:05I walked into the room and
33:07there was a nurse that was sitting there
33:09in the room and
33:11and the dear lady, my teacher's mother
33:13who was lying in the bed
33:15she was obvious in
33:17discomfort because she was groaning
33:19and
33:21the nurse said to me
33:23don't pay her any attention
33:25she said she just groans like that and
33:27nobody can ever understand
33:29what she's saying
33:31but somehow
33:33what I heard
33:35almost as a death gurgle
33:37with her groaning
33:39turned into articulate speech
33:41and she
33:43gave me a message to give to her daughter
33:45now this is
33:47my first time ever having a human interaction
33:49with her
33:51she called her daughter
33:53by a name that only she called her daughter
33:55when she meant business
33:57I didn't know this because I'd never
33:59met her mother before
34:01but I called her mother when I left there
34:03and I said
34:05this is what your mama said
34:07because the moment that I raised my hand
34:09to begin to pray for her healing
34:11she began to groan
34:13and I heard these words
34:15don't pray for my healing
34:17I'm ready to go and my business is fixed
34:21tell my daughter that it's my time
34:25I drew my hand back
34:27I was hearing her
34:29in intelligent English
34:31the nurse sitting there
34:33was only hearing groans
34:35I heard English
34:37and I'm here as a living witness
34:39to tell you that sometimes
34:41when life hits you and you're just
34:43groaning in the spirit
34:45you can't even articulate it
34:47it is a groan of an internal
34:49pain that you are sensing
34:51that somehow whether it is by
34:53grief, whether it is by
34:55embarrassment, whether it is by
34:57isolation, whether it is by
34:59disease
35:01but somehow the Holy Spirit
35:03knows how to take groaning
35:05and turn it into speech
35:07not grumbling
35:09but it became a prayer
35:11and the prayer was answered
35:13just like that
35:15and it's amazing
35:17it is absolutely amazing
35:19and I tell you
35:21my message to the daughter
35:23brought peace to her heart
35:25because it was an unveiling of God's will
35:27and the moment that I told her
35:29what her mother said and how she said it
35:31she said that's my mama
35:33and she said my mama only called me by that name
35:35when she meant business
35:37and this is my first time
35:39ever having a conversation
35:41with them and you know when you have a teacher
35:43at least when
35:45we had teachers in my day, you never called a
35:47teacher by her first name, in fact we didn't even know
35:49their first names
35:51you were Mrs. So-and-so
35:53or Miss So-and-so but it was
35:55Miss and a last name
35:57but the mama, this was her mama
35:59she called her by the first name
36:01her full first name
36:03and I delivered the message the same
36:05way that I heard that
36:07translation come to me
36:09that was groaning
36:11so groaning is a language of the Holy Spirit
36:13that God is able to interpret
36:15as a prayer to Him
36:17because there are some pains
36:19that go beyond our
36:21ability to be able to express
36:23when we groan
36:25and I don't know whether you've ever
36:27been hurt before by
36:29something that made you groan
36:31a grief
36:33that you
36:35couldn't actually
36:37articulate no matter how extensive your
36:39vocabulary is
36:41there are some things that will happen in this
36:43life and you just don't have words for
36:45and a groan
36:47is the only way that you can express that
36:49God I'm dealing with something, I'm wrestling
36:51with something and I don't know what to do with this
36:53and the Holy Spirit
36:55makes intercession
36:57for us
36:59through a groan
37:01that God is able to translate
37:03and interpret
37:05every word
37:07every thought, every intent
37:09that is in us
37:11because we groan
37:13in the realm of the Spirit
37:15and so
37:17don't nurse your grudges
37:19air your grievances
37:23and take it when you've been hit by
37:25something in life
37:27and learn that God
37:29though this is
37:31uncomfortable for me
37:33I trust you
37:35because I believe based on
37:37your word God that you love me
37:39and that you will never leave me
37:41nor forsake me that you
37:43are forever
37:45with me
37:47and I think that one of the greatest ways
37:49that we can express to God
37:51that we trust Him
37:53is that when things are happening
37:55in your life
37:57and you're not trying to just have your way
37:59that you're telling
38:01God
38:03in your own words
38:05Lord have your way
38:07I want us to just
38:09say that
38:11in a way today
38:13when we don't understand what the future holds
38:15but we know who holds the future
38:17that God says I know the plans
38:19that I have for you
38:21plans to prosper you and not to harm you
38:23but plans to give you
38:25a hope and a future
38:27I just
38:29encourage you to just tell Him
38:31have thine own
38:33way
38:35Lord
38:37have thine
38:39own way
38:41thou
38:43art
38:45the potter
38:49I
38:51am the
38:53clay
38:55mold
38:57me and
38:59make
39:01me
39:03after
39:05thy
39:07will
39:09while
39:11I
39:13am waiting
39:17yielded
39:19and
39:21still
39:23will you just tell Him that
39:25have
39:27thine own
39:29way
39:31Lord I don't know what life holds
39:33have thine
39:35own way
39:37thou
39:39art
39:41the potter
39:45I
39:47am the
39:49clay
39:51mold
39:53me
39:55and make
39:57me
39:59after thy will
40:01after
40:03thy will
40:05while
40:07I'm here
40:09waiting
40:13yielded and still
