00:00And what is the expectation of Brad Holmes?
00:02We know they are calling.
00:03We know it is serious.
00:05Dan Campbell is vetting players.
00:07The Chiefs have a clear need at wide receiver,
00:09and they traded for DeAndre Hopkins.
00:11The deal is expected to be finalized today.
00:13ESPN says it's for a conditional fourth round pick.
00:17They're addressing their biggest need.
00:19They're the only undefeated team left in football.
00:21They're back-to-back Super Bowl champs.
00:23It feels like Detroit and Kansas City
00:25are on a collision course.
00:27They're doing what they need to do.
00:29Detroit, I do expect,
00:30will address their biggest need at edge.
00:33John, will it be a move bigger or smaller
00:35than DeAndre Hopkins to Kansas City?
00:40So DeAndre Hopkins will be impactful.
00:44Does he come in, is he their number one receiver?
00:47I mean, how old is DeAndre Hopkins?
00:49How much juice does he have left in the tank?
00:53And all of those things will go to answer
00:56how impactful, I mean, he's 32 years old,
00:59he's the same age as Zadarius Smith,
01:01who I would use as a comp.
01:03Day three pick to address the need.
01:05I don't think Hopkins, to your point,
01:07is DeAndre Hopkins of old,
01:09but it's a body that helps strengthen
01:11a clear, glaring weakness.
01:13So will they do more than Zadarius Smith?
01:17No, I think they'll go the Zadarius Smith type of player.
01:24I was about to say DeZarius, Zadarius.
01:29But I also don't think,
01:30so you're saying it's a conditional fourth?
01:32That's what the ESPN is saying, yes.
01:34All right, yeah, so if they win the Super Bowl,
01:35it probably pops up to a three,
01:37it stays four if they don't.
01:40I'm just guessing.
01:40It could be something like that, yeah.
01:41Yeah.
01:43And maybe that's the route that they go with Zadarius
01:46or somebody of ability to where,
01:51hey, we'll give you a fifth.
01:52I don't think they're gonna have to go fourth,
01:53but maybe it's a conditional fifth.
01:54Hey, if we win the Super Bowl, we'll give you a fourth.
01:57And Detroit has their fourth and fifth picks, yeah.
01:59And he has X number of snaps in that.
02:02He has to play and contribute and certain thresholds.
02:06Yeah, I wonder because I know the big names out there
02:08are much bigger than DeAndre Hopkins.
02:10I mean, Edge is such a premier position
02:12and the small percentage chance that is a Max Crosby
02:16or a Miles Garrett.
02:17But I think there are guys in between
02:20a Zadarius Smith and a Max Crosby.
02:23I think Harold Landry's a bigger move.
02:25Same team, Tennessee Titans, a bigger move
02:28than adding DeAndre Hopkins.
02:30It may be a more impactful move
02:33because he's gonna play more snaps.
02:34It costs more too.
02:35It's also, when you think of Terrell Williams,
02:37who is their D-line coach,
02:38he's very familiar with Harold Landry,
02:41having worked with him for the last few years.
02:45But it's not necessarily,
02:46it's not a one-for-one same position fill.
02:51You know, Harold Landry is not an Edge defender.
02:55He's a Sam linebacker who also rushes the passer.
02:59Now, some of the, we mentioned this yesterday,
03:02some of the added benefits is
03:05it could be really good for Jack Campbell
03:07to be able to watch and learn from a player
03:09that has reached his level
03:12to be able to mimic some of what he does,
03:15learn from how he approaches rushing from that position
03:19as a linebacker.
03:20Yeah, Aiden's 6'7", 270, right?
03:23And he played the run really well.
03:25Sets the edge.
03:26Yeah, Harold Landry grades out
03:27as one of the better Edge run defenders in football.
03:30And don't treat PFF as gospel, I understand.
03:33But they had graded him out as very strong against the run.
03:36He's not one of these like pure speed Edge guys,
03:40one way to get home.
03:42I mean, he's gotten to the quarterback
03:44double-digit times a year ago.
03:45He has multiple seasons with double-digit sacks.
03:47And it's not while giving up much against the run.
03:51I think on third down,
03:52he would be playing in a similar spot that Aiden is, right?
03:56On third and long especially.
03:58And I think that's where you're worried
03:59about missing Aiden the most.
04:01Is third down, get off the field, obvious passing downs.
04:05They need someone who can win one-on-one
04:07and Harold Landry wins one-on-one.
04:09To me, he's the bigger than Hopkins move
04:12that feels attainable.
04:14They're one in five.
04:14They just traded DeAndre Hopkins.
04:16I feel like if you're Detroit,
04:17that's a team that you can be calling on
04:19and expecting to get a deal done with
04:22if you're willing to pay.
04:23I go back to the other issue is,
04:26he is having this success.
04:28And I think he would be successful in any defense.
04:31They run not front.
04:33No fair.
04:34All right, so you get a nose
04:35and you get two head up tackles on your offensive tackle.
04:38So now all of a sudden,
04:39you have an offensive tackle that is setting out wider.
04:41He's passing up one to get to another.
04:44Whereas, if he's lining up with the Lions,
04:47it's not gonna be lining up with the same situation
04:50and the same setup.
04:50No, and I mean, not to geek out about it,
04:53and you're right,
04:53but Detroit has a lot of beef on the interior,
04:56their defensive line.
04:57And they can get creative with how they deploy them.
04:59I'm not proposing an entire shift change for one player.
05:02But John, they are relying on a lot of interior guys
05:04to occupy blocks.
05:05Can you kind of create a similar one-on-one situation
05:08for Landry when you have Reader and you have McNeil
05:10and you're gonna use-
05:11Onzerique.
05:12Yeah.
05:13You can, but I'm just saying it's not a one-for-one
05:18because he's coming from one system
05:20and will be plugged into a completely different one.
05:25Do they believe in their analysis of Harrell Landry?
05:28If that's the direction they go,
05:30that he can make that transition
05:32and be as effective in this defense,
05:35not just this year, but moving forward,
05:37as he has been in Tennessee's defense.
05:40So we'll take phone calls, 248-539-9797.
05:43We'll take a text.
05:44You see what Chiefs are doing?
05:46What do you want the Lions to do?
05:47And John, why don't-
