00:00What inspired me was the fact that I wanted to a challenge the stereotypical definition
00:11of beauty, where a woman is expected to look a certain way irrespective of her age, irrespective
00:17of her medical issue or anything like that.
00:20Right.
00:21So that was one one point that I noted.
00:23The second one was that most of the beauty pageants are not giving that experience to
00:28the participant that they deserve.
00:31So this is a very beautiful journey that they should remember for the rest of their lives.
00:37So that was not possible with people who are doing other pageants.
00:41And thirdly, the crowns was for sale, which I don't want to do.
00:44I don't want to sell my crowns.
00:46So that was the reason why I started Marvellous Mrs. India.
00:48The qualities that I see is the will to transform herself, to go to the next level, the will
01:01to create a social impact, to give back to the society.
01:37So I know her journey.
01:43So I observe that also.
01:50Well, firstly, it's not only married women.
01:52We also invite single parents, divorcees, separated women and widows.
01:59How do we empower them is firstly by creating that self-belief, that confidence in herself
02:06that she can achieve, she can do whatever she wants to do to become a better human being.
02:12We also train them to be a better parent, to be a better sister, to be a better wife.
02:18So overall, the personality development that happens, holistically we pay attention to that
02:24because it is beauty inside out.
02:26We give them training for financial health also.
02:29So one of the aspects.
02:30More than not ready because we don't force anyone that yes, you have to participate.
02:35But there are many such incidents that happen after she enrolls that she wants to take a step back
02:42and says that no, I will participate next year because this has happened.
02:47Like one of the participants, her husband had a stroke.
02:50So he couldn't move.
02:51He had a paralytic stroke.
02:53So she had to get herself on the right track.
02:56She had to confidently tell her mentors.
02:59So she was like, I can't do it.
03:01So I told her, no, this is a test for you.
03:03You have to go through this.
03:05For example, if we want to scratch gold, it has to go through fire.
03:09We also do this to a diamond, right?
03:11We scratch it, that's when the diamond glows.
03:13So I told her that this is a test.
03:15If you pass this test, you will see how confident you feel about yourself.
03:21See, we can objectify anywhere.
03:24Like, we are seeing in this society that there are many such incidents where, why is it happening?
03:30Because you are objectifying a woman.
03:32It's nothing to do with beauty pageant.
03:34In fact, here I would say that the support of the family,
03:38I don't think anybody can say that I am a beauty pageant.
03:41I am a beauty pageant.
03:43I am a beauty pageant.
03:45I am a beauty pageant.
03:47The support of the family,
03:49I don't think anybody can say that they are objectifying another lady who is participating.
03:54All we see is respect.
04:01The reason for, and I confidently say this,
04:04that our mechanism is absolutely unbiased.
04:08Because A, I don't sit as a judge.
04:10B, they are given freedom to choose whoever they want.
04:16I have this open challenge to anybody that you can interview any judge
04:20who has been a judge on Marvelous Mrs. India Season 1 or 2,
04:24that there has been no bias whatsoever towards anybody.
04:33Evolving? No, they are evolved.
04:35Because we have started from the point that we don't have any weight criteria.
04:39But one thing is there, that if you are not fit, we will ask you to become fitter.
04:44We will ask you to become better.
04:46Because a fit mother, a fit wife is a better human being.
04:49If there is life, there is world.
04:51So it is very important to focus on our life.
04:54So fitness is very very crucial, not the weight.
05:02You can't keep everybody happy.
05:04It is difficult to keep everyone happy.
05:06Especially a woman who has not won anything.
05:08So sometimes she questions.
05:10But at the end of the day, she knows from within,
05:14that yes, what the process was, it was only fair and authentic.
05:23Bigger and better.
