00:00I am very proud of the fact that due to a lawsuit that the Legal Defense Fund brought
00:05and argued before the Supreme Court just two terms ago, we now have a second Black Opportunity
00:11District in the state of Alabama and a second Black Opportunity District in the state of
00:15Louisiana in addition to legislative districts and other smaller jurisdictions that now have
00:23more Black voters able to elect candidates of their choice.
00:27That only happened because of litigation.
00:29That only happened because we had brave clients who were willing to invest the time and energy
00:36to work with us through the courts and to testify and to do all that was needed to create
00:43more Black political power for their communities and their families and for future generations.
00:48So litigation plays a central role.
00:51We wish we didn't have to bring it, but we do.
00:54It's something that has really powered our elections for decades.
