00:00The Department of Agriculture promised that the negotiators who will be proven disobedient to the Price Act will face punishment.
00:07Details in the national news of Clay Zell Pardilla of PTV Manila.
00:13The Department of Agriculture Secretary Francisco T. Laurel Jr. is warning that the Price Act can be implemented
00:21that punishes those who manipulate the price.
00:25In front of this, the price of rice remains high in the markets, despite the Executive Order that reduces the price of imported rice.
00:34It is also possible that the DA will recommend to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. the establishment of a price ceiling
00:41if the price of the product can be proven.
00:45Based on the price monitoring of the DA, the price of rice in the markets ranges from P41 to P63.
00:53But the price should only go up to P45 if what some importers say is true, that they lowered the price to P38 per kilo of rice.
01:04In a consultation with the importers, Rice Retailers were accused of selling rice at a high price.
01:12Because of this, T. Laurel will urge the presidents of the largest markets in Metro Manila to find out the root of the problem.
01:22Random inspections will also be conducted in the markets to obtain price data, and proper action will be taken to address the problem.
01:31According to the DA, if the price of the main products is proven to be too high,
01:37the price manipulation, profiteering, and cartel will be punished.
01:43It is possible to face up to 15 years in prison and pay up to P2 million in fines if the price act is proven to be broken.
01:53T. Laurel Jr. assured that the issue will be solved and that the DA will not let many Filipinos suffer because of the corruption of some.
02:03From PTV, Kalei Zalfardilia, Balitang Pambansa.
