00:00So the Bears' loss of credibility in Matt Iberflues as a result, Mike, has precipitated
00:05a national conversation about his job status.
00:08What do you think the future holds for Matt Iberflues?
00:11Think about what the calendar tells us.
00:13We've got October going into November, and we know that once the regular season ends,
00:18teams will be firing coaches.
00:20It happens every year, six, seven, eight different vacancies every year.
00:24There were eight last year.
00:25A full 25% of the entire league turning over in one offseason.
00:29Now, those decisions don't just get spontaneously made the day after the last game.
00:35They are planted, watered, considered in the weeks before the season ends.
00:42So when you get into November and December, that's when you get closer and closer to the
00:46point where owners start to make those decisions about what the team is going to be doing as
00:50soon as the season ends.
00:52And if you're Matt Iberflues, you don't need November to be starting with a failure of
00:58you to have your team properly disciplined, properly coached, properly ready.
01:04You can see the 13 yards that made the Hail Mary possible.
01:08And then on the Hail Mary play, you don't have whoever the deepest guy was supposed
01:12to be.
01:13Some have said it was supposed to be Kevin Bayard.
01:14I don't care who it was supposed to be.
01:15It's on the coaching staff that no one was deeper than the deepest guy on the commanders.
01:19It's on the coaching staff that Tyreke Stevenson was taunting commanders fans and really not
01:25paying attention.
01:26And then when he realized the play had started, it wasn't like he really busted his ass to
01:29get over there.
01:30He was just like, oh, well, something's going on here.
01:32I better check this out.
01:34So it's all on Iberflues.
01:36And it puts a lot of pressure on him in the coming weeks.
01:40And this is the challenge.
01:41When you have a loss like what happened on Sunday, it's on the coaching staff to make
01:45sure one loss doesn't become two.
01:47They go to Arizona to play an unexpectedly strong Cardinals team.
01:53If one loss becomes two because they can't get over that moment, then you've got to start
01:57thinking, all right, what are the Bears going to do for next year and to Cliff Kingsbury
02:03with his performance as the commander's offensive coordinator this year, position himself to
02:07get together with Caleb Williams in Chicago next year.
