00:00Yes, and the Cowboys need a winning team in their life, of course, Dave.
00:18How much are you thinking this downturn could be beyond this year, multiple season, or do
00:23you think they'll pull out of this and have a correction either at some point this year
00:26or next year at the latest?
00:30I'm willing to say I don't see a big upturn coming this year.
00:33I mean, maybe the Cowboys can do a couple things to, you know, improve this year's team,
00:39improve the run defense, find a way to scheme up some open receivers for a change.
00:45I don't see it going great for the rest of the season.
00:49I'm not ready to speculate on a multi-year turn.
00:53I mean, they're going to have cap space next year.
00:55They're going to have draft assets.
00:58It doesn't look like it right now, but they are typically pretty good in the draft at
01:04finding, you know, blue-chip caliber players.
01:07So I'm not worried about the big, big picture, but it's looking pretty bleak in 2024.
01:15What do you think about, Micah asked Trevon Diggs on the podcast and them kind of going
01:22back and forth thinking the media needs to protect them.
01:25We're supposed to be one.
01:26We're supposed to be together.
01:28I wonder your perspective of that, having worked at DallasCowboys.com, actually being
01:33the team's media, and now you're a national representative.
01:37Well, and I'm sure Brian has talked about this plenty of times.
01:41I think DallasCowboys.com is pretty unique among not just NFL teams, but really all team-owned
01:48media in the sense that we just had a lot more leeway to be critical and be honest.
01:55So I really, and I completely understand we were still owned by the team.
02:00You know, we still ultimately answered to the Jones family at the end of the day.
02:05But you compare the work that we did with pretty much any other team-owned media, and
02:11I think it's a vastly different experience.
02:14But I will say, I think it's a confusing time to digest media if you're not trained
02:22in the world of media.
02:24You know, I saw Micah and Trevon say that, and you know, for all of the traditional old-school
02:30outlets that do this and have done it for a long time, these days there are just as
02:36many podcasts, blogs, newsletters, whatever you want to call it, from people who are fans
02:43and who are unabashedly pro-Cowboys.
02:46So I just think there's so much noise.
02:50There's more noise than there's ever been, and it's coming from all different directions.
02:54And I'm not even saying that to disparage anybody because I think some of those, a lot
02:59of new media do really good work, but it's harder than it's ever been to parse through
03:06all of that.
03:07But you know, as we know, that's not traditionally the job of media, but I don't really blame
03:13Micah and Trevon for having an incorrect view of it, I guess.
