00:00The Bank of the Department of Tourism continues to address the needs of the tourism sector in the country,
00:07particularly to the displaced tourism workers affected by the Christine typhoon.
00:12Rod Laguzan has the details.
00:18In the following days of the upcoming typhoon and its bad effects,
00:23many places in the country are affected.
00:26At the same time, many tourist spots and workers were affected by the typhoon.
00:31In order to fight this, the Department of Tourism is one of the ones to launch
00:36the National Ecotourism Strategic Action Plan,
00:39led by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
00:41These measures hope to be able to strengthen the sustainability of our destinations
00:48that often fall prey to the realities of climate change.
00:53The Department of Tourism, under the directive of our President, is here to provide assistance in any way,
00:59especially in ensuring that our affected tourism destinations are able to recover.
01:04Although the frequent calamities in the country are uncontrolled,
01:08what is important here is to be prepared to respond.
01:11In addition, the government has already activated its Disaster Response Manual in its regional offices.
01:17In order to institutionalize disaster response among our regional offices,
01:22and certainly this has resulted in the swift assistance provided to our tourists.
01:28In terms of sustainability of our destinations, of course we continue to educate our tourism destinations
01:36in terms of instituting measures by which we can allay the effects of climate change.
01:43Based on the DOT's data, 14 tourist destinations in the country were affected by the typhoon Christine,
01:49of which 570 tourists were stranded,
01:53who were also helped to leave for their destinations.
