00:00After the confession of former President Rodrigo Duterte about his involvement in the war on drugs,
00:07what can the Senate do?
00:10This is what Professor Antonio Contreras will discuss in Punto de Vista, Professor.
00:15When we talk about extrajudicial killing, we also have what we call extrajudicial confession.
00:30And this is what happened during the Senate hearing.
00:34Former President Duterte almost confessed.
00:39But what's different from extrajudicial confession is that the former president admitted it because he did it under oath.
00:50So what are we going to do about the evidence that was found in the hearing?
00:55Maybe it's time for the Department of Justice to investigate the case.
01:03So that the cases in our court can be investigated.
01:07Otherwise, we will continue to question the truth.
01:13For example, a lot of people are saying that the Senate should give the transcript to the ICC.
01:19The Congress is now saying that it has already given the transcript.
01:23The evidence in the ICC is not correct.
01:25This is a lie.
01:27The House is saying that they did not give the transcript.
01:32From my point of view, the Philippines should be the first.
01:36What are we waiting for?
01:38There is the confession under oath.
01:40That there is DDS.
01:42There is the confession under oath.
01:44That the police were really ordered, convinced, or encouraged to give guns.
01:51Or that there was an opportunity to fight an accused or arrested person.
01:56So that they have an excuse to kill them.
01:59What are we waiting for?
02:01Otherwise, if we continue to wait, and we are forced to file a case,
02:07maybe we should go to the ICC.
02:10Because we are unable and unwilling to prosecute.
02:14But even so, I will always insist.
02:18We should have jurisdiction.
02:21Because we are a free country with sovereignty.
02:27That is why, there is an extrajudicial confession in the former President.
02:32Under oath.
02:34We should not wait anymore.
02:36Let us file a case.
02:38So that we will know the truth.
02:40And we will be able to prosecute who should be prosecuted.
02:43That is my point of view now.
02:45Back to you, Dianne.
02:49Thank you very much, Professor Antonio Contreras.
