00:00Manchester United have confirmed the appointment of Ruben Amorim as their new head coach. He
00:07will begin the role during the November international break on the 11th of November. His first game
00:13in charge will be away at Ipswich Town on the 24th of November. United have confirmed
00:18the news at Friday lunchtime that they had reached an agreement with Sporting for his
00:23arrival. United insist that Amorim was the only candidate they spoke to in the latest
00:29search for a successor to Eric ten Haag. They say he was the top target, someone they
00:34wanted right from the very start and they're delighted to have secured the services of
00:39the 39-year-old. Amorim not only viewed as someone who is young and an upcoming coach
00:44but someone who is also very well qualified with a proven track record in Portuguese football.
00:50He's already led Sporting to two Portuguese titles. He's won three Portuguese League Cups
00:57as well. It means he will be in charge for three more Sporting matches. It also means
01:02Ruud van Nistelrooy will be in charge, or will interim charge, for three more Manchester
01:06United matches. Ruud will lead United against Chelsea, Pauk and Leicester City. Ruben Amorim
01:13will lead his side against Estrella on Friday night, Man City next week in the Champions
01:18League and his final game in charge of Sporting will be against Braga the same day United
01:24play Leicester City in the Premier League. So United have got their new manager. Well,
01:29we say manager, he is actually the head coach. It might seem like semantics but that is a
01:32very big difference. A key part of United's search for a new head coach was that they
01:37wanted someone who is more of a coaching background, someone who is solely responsible for results
01:43on the pitch and for performances on the training ground as well. They want someone who isn't
01:48as involved in transfers as Eric Ten Haag was. They want to go in a new direction. United's
01:54sources have been very quick to point out that Amorim is unlike any of the managers
01:58they have had since Serge Ferguson left the club over a decade ago. Will this be the one
02:03that finally gets Manchester United back on track? Time will tell but you can follow us
02:07on Manchester World for all the latest news as Ruben Amorim becomes the new Manchester
02:13United head coach.
