00:00Although cases have been filed and several cemetery personnel have already been relieved,

00:05surviving kin of the departed whose bones were allegedly illegally exhumed from the

00:10Barangka Municipal Cemetery in Marikina, unfortunately, didn't even have the opportunity

00:16to pay their respects. Ironically, and sadly, on a day reserved for such remembrance.

00:22Clayzel Pardilla tells us more.

00:24It's very upsetting because he's my father, he's my uncle, and now he's gone.

00:32Christine is one of many individuals grieving over lost loved ones

00:36whose remains were exhumed and removed from the Barangka Municipal Cemetery in Marikina.

00:42Like others who have come forward, Christine discovered that someone else had been buried

00:47in her relative's former grave. She has no idea where her loved one's remains are now.

00:52Thus, her feeling of extreme disappointment.

01:01The Marikina City Health Office has temporarily taken over

01:04the management of Barangka Cemetery.

01:07The previous administrator and other cemetery staff have been removed from their posts.

01:12They are facing charges for alleged violation of the sanitation codes and grave neglect of

01:18duty due to the unauthorized exhumation of remains.

01:21The City Health Office is addressing each complaint.

01:25They are gathering details about the missing remains of loved ones

01:28to tag and identify the exhumed bodies.

01:48The Marikina LGU is also investigating allegations that families

02:07have been paying a yearly fee of P500 to keep their loved ones' graves.

02:18The Marikina LGU is offering free cremation services to families of the exhumed remains.

02:34Tomorrow, a mass will be held to honor and pay the respects to the exhumed remains,

02:40which now total over 60. The number may increase as the counting process continues.
