India's foreign policy should be anchored in its own national interests rather than being overly reliant on any single power. This approach emphasizes strategic autonomy and flexibility, enabling India to navigate complex international relationships while safeguarding its sovereignty and development goals. By prioritizing its own interests, India can effectively engage with multiple global players and enhance its role on the world stage, says expert.

00:00Aspect of ties with United States, there is another aspect of ties with Russia.
00:05Yogesh, yahan par Russia ka zikr karna bahut zaruri isli hai kyunki US aur Russia obviously
00:11go hand in hand as far as India is concerned and also in the elections Russian role is not deniable.
00:18Ambassador Goyal, how do you see the role of Russia also vis-a-vis India and United States?
00:25Kaise business partners ke taur par dekhen hai, ya phir cultural connect dekhen hai,
00:30ya geopolitical importance mein, Russia kitna mada role play karega?
00:33A very very very important role and very large role because it again as a part of geostrategic
00:41balancing and hedging that it becomes very obvious that for the USA kind of dealings
00:49that have existed between India and Russia are uncomfortable for them because it does go
00:55against their own policies with Russia particularly after the Ukraine war started.
01:02Now for example about purchase of oil, there were murmurs even earlier that it is not and
01:08particularly because of the payment situation when they are trying to work out the payment
01:15media without using dollars, it does deny, it does defy the sanctions which USA imposes
01:23against Russia. USA has been able to basically look away from those issues because USA needs India.
01:31USA needs India in its contest against China in Indo-Pacific but if on that day the USA
01:40feels that yes this is actually, they don't need India anymore. I am quite certain that their
01:47behavior vis-a-vis India-Russia relations will undergo certain changes. It will depend upon
01:55what it is really and therefore all that really we need to work on is that our relationship
02:03with USA or Russia does not become so unidimensional that we begin to depend upon one or the other.
02:12We have to keep our options open. In that sense our strategic autonomy is the best policy
02:17when we really deal with each country depending upon our own interest and they are comfortable
02:23with the fact that they need us. So work on that kind of a basis where we can have a
02:29comfortable relations depending upon mutual needs.
02:34Yes.
02:36Right. Indeed.
02:41Yogesh, here we tell our viewers that United States has started to vote as of now and voting is being done at the polling booths as of now.
02:53Even before this at least for a week voting has been going on in the US which is a postal ballot.
02:59They are sending it through mail. A lot of capable or senior people use this.
03:06For information let me tell you very quickly that the first election results have also come in.
03:13The first election results have been announced in America. Voting in Dixville, not in New Hampshire,
03:19began at midnight and concluded in 15 minutes because there were only 6 voters there.
