00:00It is expected that there will be heavy rainfall in the Calabar Zone and some parts of Metro Manila
00:06in the midst of the threat of climate change.
00:09This is after the NEDA Board approved by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
00:15the changes in their flood control projects.

00:23In the face of the threat of climate change,
00:25the government will pay more attention to the two main flood control projects in the country.
00:30In the 22nd NEDA Board meeting led by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.,
00:35it approved the expansion of construction and other adjustments
00:39of the Cavite Industrial Area Flood Risk Management Project
00:43and Pasig-Marikina River Channel Improvement Project Phase 4.
00:46According to the Presidential Communications Office,
00:48the board approved the additional project cost of the Cavite Industrial Area Flood Risk Management Project
00:54from the previous 9.891 billion pesos to now more than 22 billion pesos.
01:00According to the President,
01:01the structure of the project will be more effective in the changing climate
01:05as well as in the affected areas.
01:08He also added that the cost of the project will increase following the adjustments
01:11but it is still within the guidelines.
01:14The board also approved the expansion of the implementation of the project
01:18from April this year until September of 2029.
01:22He also added that some of the needs of the project
01:24such as the expansion of diversion channels and additional drainage.
01:29The loan reallocation of the project with a total of 1.042 billion Japanese Yen
01:34from the Consulting Services and Contingencies was also adjusted.
01:38As of now, the physical accomplishment of the project is already at 44%
01:41and the disbursed fund for this is already up to 35%.
01:45Aside from the project, the effect of the flood in the San Juan River Basin
01:49and Maalimango Creek Drainage Area in Cavite.
01:52The board also approved the project cost of more than 57 billion pesos
01:56for Phase 4 of the Pasig-Marikina River Channel Improvement Project.
01:59Its implementation will also be extended from December 25, 2025 until March 2031.
02:05The board approved a reallocation of 3.363 billion Japanese Yen for this
02:10along with the supplemental loan of 45.759 billion Japanese Yen.
02:15The President also approved the design of the project
02:19which is anchored in the changing times to avoid the spillover of the Marikina River.
02:23This is something that the DPWH has already promised.
02:27The target of the project is to reduce the flow of the Pasig-Marikina River during the typhoon
02:32where many places in Metro Manila and nearby provinces will benefit.
02:36The Chief Executive gave a statement that through this project,
02:40more lives will be protected and the progress of the rescue of the many will not be compromised.
02:47The implementation of the Philippine International Exhibition Center Project was also approved by the NEDA Board.
02:53Forty units of fast patrol crafts will also be obtained
02:56and will be funded under the Official Development Assistance.
