00:00The government has distributed education aid to the children of the former Moro Islamic Liberation Front, or MILF, in Marawi City and Lanao del Sur.

00:10Shariff Timar of Radyo Pilipinas Iligan has the details of the situation in the country.

00:17More than 100 children of the former members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, or MILF, received education aid from the government

00:25here on Tuesday, November 5 at Mindanao State University or MSU Convention Center in Marawi City.

00:30The beneficiaries are students from various schools in Marawi City and Lanao del Sur,

00:36which is made up of 121 women and 50 men.

00:40According to a beneficiary named Sultan Asrin Natangkop, a son of a former MILF combatant,

00:46he plans to use his received aid for his studies and he will also give it to his family.

00:51Natangkop is currently a fourth-year student of MSU Main Campus in Communication and Media Studies

00:57and he wants to become a broadcaster because that is his family's dream for him.

01:11In his message, the Office of the Presidential Advisor on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity,

01:17Secretary Carlito Galvez, Jr., said that once they finish their studies,

01:21they will support their communities and help the government

01:25in advancing the true and long-lasting prosperity and peace in the region of Moro.

01:29And once you finish your studies, you will support your communities

01:35and the government in advancing the true and long-lasting prosperity and peace in the nation.

01:43Beneficiaries will receive P25,000 each semester,

01:48and the total amount of P50,000,000 will be used for this.

01:53This is done through the Socioeconomic Development Program of the Normalization Process

01:58under the Comprehensive Agreement of the Bank of Moro or CAB

02:02passed by the former rebels and the Philippine government.

02:05It is expected that the aid for education will alleviate the financial problems

02:10of the students and their families.
