00:07locals have said is a shame. Bristolians have reacted to the historic Bristol Zoo items
00:14being put for auction, which is helping to fund its new site. The items up for grabs
00:22range from the original zoo signage to animal sculptures, statues and Victorian benches.
00:29Among them is a 1949 bronze bust of the zoo's famous gorilla resident, Alfred, with a guide
00:35price starting at around £5,000 to £8,000. The zoo says that all the money raised will
00:42help to fund the new conservation zoo at the Bristol Zoo Project, near junction 17 of the
00:49M5, as well as the charity's conservation work. The items include an original Edwardian
00:55zoo enamel sign and a lion's face in the hole sign.
