00:00The final year of the extra eligibility, right?
00:07Because of the COVID year.
00:08So what we're seeing like with Gonzaga and a few other teams, Miami, is we've got these
00:13teams loaded with 21, 22, 23 year olds, very experienced.
00:18And am I crazy, Mike?
00:19I mean, the game of college hoops, it feels like it's been a little bit better over the
00:25last couple of years.
00:26And it feels like there are some loaded teams this year with those kinds of players, no?
00:32People complain, Joe, about the transfer portal because it reduces stability.
00:37But what it does also is it homogenizes the talent.
00:40It spreads it out to more places.
00:42So more teams have a chance.
00:44And the other thing that's happened is with NIL, Joe, players like Mark Sears at Alabama
00:49or RJ Davis at North Carolina, guys who were all Americans a year ago, in the past, even
00:55if they weren't first round picks, they'd have gone just to make some money.
00:58I'll make some money as a second round pick or I'll go to Europe or I'll go to the G League
01:02or whatever.
01:04They needed to make money.
01:05And now they can make that money probably more in a lot of cases in college than they
01:10would as borderline NBA type pro players.
01:14So I think that's why you're seeing college basketball get better.
01:18It's more competitive because more teams have a chance and it's more experienced, not just
01:23because of COVID, although that's a huge factor, but also because guys are ignoring the second
01:27round of the draft and saying, hey, I can make a bunch of bucks in college.
01:31Have fun.
01:32Continue to get better.
01:33I'll be more ready when I get to the pros.
01:35When I arrive, I'm not going to be a first round pick probably ever, but I can be a big
01:39time player.
