00:00LeBron had a big night. He had 39, a sixth player in NBA history to play 1,500 games.
00:09But for the first time here as the coach of the Lakers, and I believe it was J.J. Reddick's
00:1410th game as the head coach, there was a little frustration afterwards. He benched D'Angelo
00:19Russell for pretty much the entire second half and really thought that LeBron was the
00:24only guy that actually tried.
00:26Yeah, I think LeBron was fantastic tonight. I mean, the biggest thing that stood out,
00:33I had no idea he had 39 until, I'm not looking at the box scores during the game, but he
00:40played hard. He's almost 40 years old, played the hardest on our team. It says a lot about
00:46him. It goes back to choices, I think, something that we've discussed as a group. You have
00:55a choice every night for how you play, and it has nothing to do with making shots. There's
01:02got to be a group of people, seven, eight guys that make that choice, and we're a really
01:10good basketball team. If we have a handful, if we have two or three, we're not going to
01:17be a good basketball team that night. So that's just the reality.
01:20We've talked a lot about wanting to play hard and LeBron being the guy that played hard
01:24in tonight's game. How do you address that with the team? What's your philosophy for
01:28approaching that?
01:29I just did.
01:30Oh, thank you.
01:31Okay, bye. See you. See you later.
01:34Now, look.
01:35All right.
01:36I'm torn here a little bit because, one, I think that his hard-ass act is going to
01:45be dangerous with vets that are making tons of money, and that he's one of them. He played
01:50in the league for a long time, and he's got this hard-ass act going where he's just one
01:58of them, and he's now a coach, and they may not buy his shtick because these guys don't
02:04listen. I've said this to you a million times, man. There is no pro athlete in sports like
02:10the NBA star player making $200 million. They don't listen to anybody. They don't listen
02:14to their wives. They don't listen to God. They don't listen to a coach. They don't listen
02:19to the media. They don't listen to anybody ever, but I actually, the more I think about
02:25it, this is why I'm torn, the more I think about it is they have sucked for a while.
02:31Don't give me their in-season tournament win. Don't give me their COVID championship. They
02:38have sucked for a while, and I think they actually need someone like this that is a
02:44hard-ass with them. You know that Davis isn't going to listen. He leads the league in scoring.
02:48They're going to listen to that little dude, and then LeBron ain't going to listen to nobody
02:52because LeBron runs the team, but I think they need J.J. Reddick to give them the business
02:57to be honest with you, and I think everything he said right there in those clips were dead
03:01on.
