00:00This is KTV Balita Ngayon. President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. passed two important laws that will help the Philippines' sovereignty in the West Philippine Sea.
00:15This is the Philippine Maritime Zones Act and the Philippine Archipelagic Sea Lanes Act.
00:21The purpose of the Maritime Zone Act is to protect the Philippines' right to our maritime zone.
00:27It will also serve as a legal basis for social, economic, and commercial activities within our Exclusive Economic Zone.
00:37While the Archipelagic Sea Lanes Act aims to protect the sea lanes and air routes that can be used by sea vehicles and for shipping in our territory.
00:49President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. believes that the laws will help us protect our rich seas and the well-being of the Filipinos.
00:58The passage of these two priority bills fully demonstrates our commitment as a responsible member of the international community and our advocacy to uphold rules-based international order.
01:15In the same breath, these signals are resolved to protect our maritime resources, preserve our rich biodiversity, and ensure that our waters remain a source of life and livelihood for all Filipinos.
01:29It is my fervent hope that with the help of these two laws, we will continue to pursue and defend our maritime interests and navigate towards a brighter and stronger Bagong Pilipinas.
01:42The Department of Social Welfare and Development asked the Department of Budget and Management to increase their fund of P875 million to use the Quick Response Fund.
01:55According to the DSWD Disaster Response Management Group, Director Assistant Secretary Irene Dublao,
02:03their goal is to continue to respond to the families affected by the following typhoons.
02:10Dublao hopes that the DBM can provide the funds they are asking for next week.
02:16Currently, the DSWD has 1.3 million family food packs that are on standby in different parts of the country.
02:26They also have a standby fund of P107 million.
02:32Some international non-government organizations are preparing to help the victims of the Christine Tsunami.
02:41One of them is the Alliance Club International.
02:46According to the International President of the group, Fabricio Oliveira,
02:51their organization has been helping the Philippines for a long time during the Christine Tsunami,
02:58where they gave $10,000 to help the victims.
03:04Even though there was no calamity, they were able to help the youth,
03:10such as distributing prescription glasses to some youths in Pasay City yesterday.
