00:00The Assembled Press have spoken to Shrewsbury Town interim head coach Sean Parrish ahead of the trip to Burton Albion tomorrow lunchtime in the Sky Plus TV pick.
00:13It's a huge game for Shrewsbury, a relegation six-pointer against their rivals, the only side yet to win a League One game this season and the only side to be below town in the league table.
00:25Sean Parrish in charge of Shrewsbury because Paul Hurst was relieved of his duties along with his assistant Chris Doig on Sunday after two wins in 19 games.
00:34It's been a real tough start to the season for Shrewsbury and they now find themselves on the hunt for their fourth head coach since the turn of 2023 and in 18 months.
00:44So it has undoubtedly been a challenge. Sean Parrish met the press, he's a really likeable fellow actually. He's not somebody that we've had the pleasure to speak to before but he's a really likeable chap.
00:55He has been in charge this week, he has been coaching the players all week since he got the call on Sunday afternoon.
01:01He revealed to me that he has spoken to his cousin in fact, Rob Edwards, who is Luton Town boss, asking for advice among other people he trusts as he prepares Shrewsbury for this game against Burton Albion.
01:13In terms of the team news, Morgan Feeney is perhaps the only one that's up in the air after it was revealed last week that he had an ankle problem.
01:21But everybody else, aside from Josh Coyote who is out on more of a long-term injury, everybody should be available for selection.
01:30We've also seen today that former boss Paul Hurst has released a really, really classy statement on the League Managers Association website.
01:38He touches on how Shrewsbury will always leave a special place in his heart.
01:43Two spells in Shropshire, he's left the club and still has his reputation intact actually.
01:49You can see from the fan reaction on the weekend when he was relieved of his duties that there was a bit of an outpouring.
01:55Because he will always be a popular figure in Shropshire after that spell he had in charge first time around where he took Shrewsbury to the playoff final and to Wembley twice.
02:07With regards to the change in manager, we understand it and as the Shropshire Star exclusively revealed on Thursday evening,
02:14Dino Marmaria and Gareth Ainsworth are two of the candidates up for grabs or in the mix for the vacant managerial role.
02:24We've seen a statement from the club come out this afternoon about how they have shortlisted some candidates and they have interviewed,
02:31expecting an appointment to come at some point next week perhaps.
02:35Shrewsbury's game against Reading has been postponed due to international call-ups so the new incumbent manager will have some time.
02:43It was also revealed by BBC Radio Shropshire that Andy Mangan is also one of the people that is in the mix for the job.
