AccuWeather's Tony Laubach reported live from Denver on Nov. 8 as round after round of snow struck eastern Colorado.
Transcript
00:00Thank you weather meteorologist and storm chaser Tony Laubach has been tracking this slow-moving system tonight
00:05He's live in Denver with the latest Tony
00:11Damien we are bracing for what will be the third and final round of what is going to go down as one of the more
00:18Historic November snowstorms we've seen not just here in the Denver metro area
00:22But all across the eastern half of Colorado you mentioned some of those totals
00:26We've been talking about it pretty much all week
00:28This is going to be one that is going to be remembered for a long long time for folks all across
00:33The eastern half of Colorado we're gonna take you to one of those eastern, Colorado places, Colorado Springs
00:39This was the drive out this morning as I worked my way up from Pueblo up here into the Denver metro area
00:44We've been dealing with just treacherous travel you mentioned that some of the accidents, Colorado Springs
00:50Probably what you're gonna be seeing on this video likely to be a teaser of what's likely to come this evening
00:55If you are out on the roads when this next band this final big push of snow starts to work its way in
01:01Likely after about five o'clock mountain time we're expecting heavy snow rates one to two inches per hour
01:06And that is gonna probably double
01:08Totals for a lot of folks up and down the front range this one gonna take more aim on the Denver area while it's snowing
01:15Pretty good here right now
01:16We have generally seen the Lesterham mounts in this part of the area compared to places further east and certainly places further south
01:23You mentioned this storm stretching all the way down into New Mexico as well
01:26That was my hope was where I was gonna be but they closed down I-25 there south of Pueblo yesterday
01:32Fairly early in the day and I was unable to get as far south as I was hoping to get
01:36But that's why I returned up here to Denver because there is plenty to snow to talk about I-70 remaining closed from Airpark Road
01:43That's basically the east side of Denver all the way out to Kansas beyond that
01:47I
01:48talk about this quite often about how they close these interstates out in this part of the country because we just have still
01:53Places we can put people once those fill up they start to back the interstate closures up further and further to the east a lot
02:00Of times that it stretches into Kansas, even though there's no real hazardous weather in Kansas
02:04We just run out of places to put the west bounders and we just have to keep closing the interstate
02:10So we're not stranding people out in the middle of nowhere
02:12There's not a lot of civilization once you get east of the Denver Metro area on an unrelated note
02:17We've been talking about it and it's kind of fizzling away
02:20Raphael and the gulf which happens to be the name of a Ninja Turtle
02:25So I will take the place of Donatello with my trusty Bo staff here
02:30And we're gonna see how deep the snow is right now because this is here in southeast, Denver
02:35And I'm gonna pop this in we are almost at a foot right here at southeast, Denver
02:40I'm just off I-25 in Arapahoe Road and I talked about I-25 off to my left over here
02:46Generally speaking Jeff on a Friday at this time
02:49You're seeing bumper-to-bumper traffic on I-25
02:52The good news is a lot of places closed earlier today
02:54Hoping that is going to be the case for what will likely be a very impactful snow in the rush hour
03:00Hopefully they're just not a lot of people rushing around at this late hour. There's impressive little move there, Tony
03:05I don't know if the Accuweather Network has ever seen such a well choreographed to snow measurement in our history
03:11Holy moly, look at that guy. I think he's done this before
03:16That's a big big punctuation mark here as the snow continues into Denver
03:21Nobody doesn't quite like Tony. We love it. And we love him here
03:24We have I-25 closed between Pueblo and Raton, New Mexico
03:298.4 inches of snow on the west side of Pueblo maybe a little west of the interstate
03:3316 inches if you're curious where Walsenburg is pretty big point of reference here halfway between Pueblo and Trinidad
03:39So there's Walsenburg and they get crunched there big-time snow and then you get down into areas around Raton
03:43And the area around Trinidad and big-time snow amounts have come in there as well
