00:00The end of the working week and what a glum one it's been.
00:04For most places, Northern Scotland in particular has seen some sunshine,
00:07but generally speaking, we've been looking at a lot of grey.
00:10Thanks to this chunky area of high pressure sitting just to the east.
00:14Out west, things are a little more lively.
00:17Low pressure systems and weather fronts.
00:19And as we go through the weekend, we need to watch this little area of low pressure
00:24because that's going to mix things up.
00:25It heads its way up towards Iceland,
00:27but this weather front associated with it has a bit more about it
00:30and it will finally start to brush away the clouds.
00:34But for most of us, that won't happen until Monday.
00:37So let's get through the weekend.
00:38First of all, Friday has been another cloudy one
00:41and will keep a lot of cloud across the country through the night.
00:43Northern Scotland has seen some good breaks in the cloud, some sunshine by day,
00:47but breaks in the cloud at night here mean tumbling temperatures.
00:50So we will again see some pockets of frost through some sheltered glens
00:53and those clearer skies could also allow some fog patches to form.
00:56Another change, a bit more in the way of drizzle coming into parts of eastern England
01:00and eastern Scotland through the early hours
01:02and some light rain and drizzle across the south coast, particularly over the hills.
01:06But for most places, it's just a dry and a cloudy night.
01:09Temperatures holding up thanks to that blanket of clouds,
01:126 or 7 degrees in the east, 9 or 10 in the west.
01:14But as I said, parts of northern Scotland could get down close to freezing for Saturday morning.
01:20Could be some fog around here as well.
01:21And if that sticks, well, it may last for much of the day.
01:24But generally speaking, north of the Great Glen will be the favoured place for blue skies on Saturday.
01:29Elsewhere, another pretty glum one.
01:31Parts of north Wales may cheer up.
01:32Parts of northern England may see something a bit brighter.
01:34But for Lincolnshire up through Yorkshire all the way up to Aberdeenshire,
01:38these coasts may be susceptible to light rain and drizzle on and off.
01:42That's going to feel pretty dismal, pretty dreak, I suspect.
01:46The odd little bit of drizzle across the south coast continuing
01:49and we may see some light rain cropping up in Northern Ireland for the afternoon too.
01:53But again, many places just dry and drab and a little colder than it has been for most of this week.
01:59Temperatures struggling a little bit, especially in the east again.
02:02Only single digits here.
02:03When you add that drizzle onto parts of the east coast, that's not going to feel very pleasant at all.
02:07Whereas in the west around the coast, we could climb into the teens.
02:11But it's in the west where we'll start to see things changing.
02:15Just gradually, gradually encroaching during Saturday.
02:18So through the evening, a bit more in the way of light rain and drizzle cropping up across Northern Ireland,
02:22coming into western Scotland, western fringes of England and Wales also.
02:26On Saturday night, it'll be the northeast that could see those temperatures dipping close to freezing in some places.
02:33Whereas for the west, temperatures holding up with the cloud and the rain and the drizzle coming in.
02:38That will make for a different feel on Sunday for many.
02:40Actually a brighter day on some of these eastern coasts.
02:43But certainly a duller day for the northwest of Scotland, at least in the morning.
02:47Because as that clears through, we should see some sunshine coming through here and for Northern Ireland later on.
02:53A few showers in the far north of Scotland come the afternoon where it will be getting a little breezy.
02:58But for most, the winds remain light.
03:00The cloud sticks around.
03:01Some drizzly conditions over the hills again of northern England.
03:04But even at lower levels for a time here and north Wales.
03:07A bit brighter perhaps for parts of eastern England and particularly the southeast.
03:11And it's going to be warmer as well.
03:12Temperatures a little bit higher on Sunday.
03:14Back up to 12, 13, 14 degrees.
03:17Perhaps even a little higher if we do see some sunshine.
03:20And speaking of sunshine, I know many of us haven't seen any at all so far through this November.
03:25But Monday is looking pretty promising.
03:27Behind this weather front, clearer air is moving in.
03:30So for many, Monday does look dry and sunny with pretty light winds as well.
03:37.
