Transcript
00:00Martin Truex Jr. Finishes his last full-time race in the NASCAR cup series. 17th position,
00:06but what's the emotion right now from this race?
00:09Oh, man. I wanted it to go better than that. You know, we pretty good early and then lost
00:16track position and then the track just continued to rubber up and get hotter. At least that's
00:21what I felt like it was doing. I kept losing the grip. I kept losing more balance. I kept
00:26losing track position. It just all magnifies with this thing. So, yeah, we, you know,
00:31we got caught by the caution there and had to stay out on old tires to get the wave around
00:36and then we couldn't even race to try to go forward. So it was just just not a good day.
00:43Not a good day to end on. But I'm proud of the effort in my team. And, you know, at least
00:48we got to lead a few laps here in the beginning. You've been at this level for 21 years, the
00:51highest level. You're a champion of the sport. Michael Jordan stopped by. Jeff Gordon just
00:55stopped by and said something to you. What's this all meant to you? Yeah, it means a lot,
01:00you know, to have the respect of guys like that and you know what they mean to the sport
01:04and absolute legends. Right. So, you know, it makes me feel good that I've earned that
01:09respect over the years. And it means a lot. So from here forward, just go have some fun
01:15and do a little bit of racing here and there just for fun. And hopefully it'll be less
01:20stressful in days like today. I think I speak for the whole sport and saying congratulations
01:23on an incredible career. I appreciate it, Parker. Thank you.
